And I didn't think the Weidman-Machida fight was all that close.... I only had Machida winning the 4th round... so 4 rounds to 1 is now close?? Don't get me wrong, it was a great fight but Weidman won, without question.

Watching the fight live in Vegas at the Mandalay Bay kinda sucked I thought. The ticket price and the view where I watched it from I found myself watching it on the jumbo tron mostly. Even ring side appears to have a restricted view. For me I'll watch, via Eu streaming sites since they get it for free, at home or a friends house through the laptop on a big screen..Fuck there $50 pay-per-view bullshit.

I was wondering about that. All I could think is why is the Faber match in the prelims? That and why does no one show up for the prelims, fuck if I bought tickets to a fight I would be there all day.

It wasn't, I love watching Machida and was hoping he would win, but man, he blew those first three rounds. Weidman is a beast in that division, I think he will stick around for some time. Honestly between the two I didn't really want to see either lose. At least it wasn't as bad as watching Griffin vs. Franklin a few years back(two of my favorite fighters to watch).

Yeah, no doubt. I was cheerin for Lyoto too. But like you said, Weidman is a beast. And Machida started way too slow. Hopefully Vitor will pass his drug tests.... I'm excited to see BJ come back tonight also! I hope he really took this camp seriously. Hes only been oit a year and even tho he got beat up his last fight, he looked really good against Sanchez.... ill be cheering for BJ but I wouldn't put any money on him...

I like this new guy, The Black Beast. He smashed that kid's face in and during the replay interview says, "Ewww! I went beast mode on him. That's H-Town. "

I was thinkin the same thing! Just found my new favorite heavyweight dude is straight oldschool! Reminds me of Gary Goodridge (I think his name was) giant black guy in Pride back in the day. Or Tank Abbott... he throws everything with the intention to kill you! Lol, straight oldschool HW!! Love it! I dunno if he is well rounded enough to keep up with Cain tho lol.

How bout Frankie Edgar lit that shit up last night! First and only person to stop BJ. Sure, BJ probably shouldn't have been in there, especially against someone as good as Frankie, but he wanted this...

Props to Edgar and props to Penn on great career but Penn looked like flipped roach for way too fucking long.

No doubt. You gotta think, what made BJ so great was he was fight at a time where their wasn't really MMA yet... everyone really only knew one or two things. It was like James Toney (great boxer) vs Randy Cotour (I know I misspelled his name, just being lazy right now) every fight... BJ got his black belt crazy fast and was a very good striker... now damn near everyone knows everything, so a lot more things come into factor with winning now... its a different time in MMA and BJ just didn't want to accept that, unfortunately... I really only watched the first round last night, so I didn't see everything that happened... it kinda sucked watching BJ get dominated like that. Just like with Chuck, I have only seen his last two or three fights once, and that was live, but have seen every other one of his fights hundreds of times. Sucks seein someone you looked up to catch a beat down that badly...

I bet the fighters coached by Edgar got superior technical training.

Eh, maybe. You gotta think both BJ and Frankie were training for their fight so how much time did they themselves actually spend teaching... standing, I would take Frankie as a coach anyday. But on the ground, I would go with BJ. .. he knows more, even tho he wasn't able to show it the other night.

Like a lot of the MMA/UFC stars fans grew up watching, BJ's prime was arguably 6-10 years ago. It's a bummer to see these guys retire, but they generally just can't keep up with the evolving elite pool of young MMA athletes.
I do need to get Fight Pass so I can relive the days of Matt Hughes, Rich Franklin, Frank Shamrock, etc.
Randy Couture's career is a neat one to review. Even when he was no longer necessary elite championship material, he stayed in the game for a few more years and fought some exciting and worthwhile fights.

I don't watch TUF, but one has to hope those fighters are getting way more coaching than from the star MMA fighters on the season title.

One of the unintentionally entertaining aspects of MMA, and combat sports in general, is the referee reactions. They're basically there to call fouls, rounds, and fight outcomes, but they seem to enjoy the fights a bit and get caught off guard from time to time.
One of the most notorious Herb Dean incidents is when Mir broke Tim Silvia's arm. Herb Dean went "OH SHIT! OH SHIT!"
Here's a great Herb Dean expression to Antonio "Big Foot" Silva knocking out Overeem
