buying a dehydrator

Nesco 1000watt dehydrator$135 - expandable up to 20 trays
or
Nesco Snackmaster 600watt $67 - comes with 5 trays expandable up to 12 trays @ $14/pair
at what size of grow would it be worth getting the 1000watt dehydrator? it doesn't need to get too hot to dry these, so the amount of trays is the most important thing. how much would 12 trays hold at once?

You can find one in the 30$ range at a target or walmart probably or craigslist or ebay. Either of those will work they're just expensive

This thing worked wonders for me. It's huge too, so you probably won't need a bigger one. It's not mentioned very often how important it is to have a dehydrator after your first grow.

what ever you get for a dehydrator, just be sure you can adjust the temp, I used one that only had on and off, so I stuck a meat thermometer in it, with the cover on and then with the cover completely off, both times the temp inside the trays (it had six trays) reached 140F in no time. I only use silica jel now, takes longer but no heat involved and its reusable.

Why fear heat? It does not affect potency at all until WAY past 300F.
I use my FD-37 which only has an on/off switch and it hits 155F-160F....I run it for 24 hours sometimes with no noticeable potency loss.

Hell some people BBQ them.

Nescos dehydrator from K-mart for less that thirty bucks has worked for me for years its not adjustable but with four trays filled with bounty only got to 151 degrees and only took about 4-5 hrs to get cracker dry. Just ate about 5gr that were 1yr and 4months old on New Years eve stored in ball canning jar in the fridge and there was plenty of magic left.

I'll have to try the dehydrator again, when i used it they never came close to fully dry, when it hit 140F i got nervous and shut it off, only cause iv read several times bout not letting the temp get over 110F.

It's some old news, there's been 1000s of uses of 160F+ heat and nothing happened to them. I've even done it myself with 160F in my dehydrator every time and I always have them come out just fine
