Not much to update but any how.
More practice shots for the upcoming spring season.

I tried getting the crazy bugs on the cup fungi clearer but they were tiny and my camera has a small screen.
And an update of my beloved CORDYPILLAR! He is doing well, they grow up so fast!

Some primordia or possible hyphal knots in-vitro. Just an oyster strain that's transferred from a culture slant. Not sure where it came from to be honest. MJK would know.

There is another one just to the left of the cup as well. They loved hanging around them for some reason.

That's a weird looking bug inside that cup-fungi. Have you tried to ID it? Byrain is good with bugs, Ganzig is too. I think those oysters came from Raceme, did I just give you one strain?

I don't know it, bugguide.net probably could narrow it down a little at least. I only know Cynipidae galls from CA a little, bugs are hard when you don't collect specimens to study...

I have not tried. I suppose I could but my brain has been scrambled by Latin fungi genera and if I take on insects right now I think I will just end up with a very confused inner dialogue. If only I had more self control when it comes to learning.
You gave me two oysters. Pulmanarius and ostreatus. The featured species is ostreatus. The latter did not take to agar no matter how much I coddled it unfortunately.

How about Cyptotrama asprata? Do you think that they would be white spored if you printed them?

You should try using a key like this one to narrow down your search.

I have been having the worst luck on identifying mushrooms lately.
These mushrooms were growing out of a mass of goop. I was thinking it was a sclerotia of some sort. I included pictures of the gleba inside the sclerotia.
They were growing in a well shaded, mossy grand fir re-prod stand of approx. 20 years of age. (I was truffle hunting). Usually you would have to remove the moss to see the "sclerotia"
Spore print is slow but appears to be white or cream at this point.

Now with some random stuff
Here is the difference between the gleba of two different truffles. One is a desired truffle, the other is not. Can you tell me the genera of each one?

I love Flammulina gills.

Pleurotopsis longinqua, thanks RD for the id on this!

This cube is trying really hard to push off the lid on the petri. Should I clone em?

Compare with Entoloma abortivum. Edit:The gills look a little off,not sure what you got there.
