purple contamination in first few days of pf incubation

Hey guys so check this out. Those cakes I innocculated with the 3 yr old spore syringes I had laying around have thrown me for a loop.
They are only 5 days old and they had begun to show signs of mycelial growth after about 2 but right when the first strands of white appeared the spots where I shot the spore solution began to show signs of some very light purple discoloration.
Since I witnessed this I have been keeping a close eye on them as my research has shown that it probably ain't good. But most of the cases I have read about on here are on matured cakes that have been removed from their jars and mine are so young.
Also the purple has basically not done anything since it first appeared and the mycelium appears to be spreading rather rapidly.
I was wondering if anyone has witnessed this same occurence and I'm wondering if anyone who has has seen mycelium beat out the mold for one reason or another.
I've already resigned myself to the fact that these would not be successful from the moment I decided to inoculate its really more of an experiment and practice for practice' sake. I will be keeping them in an isolated place simply to see what happens but any experience shared will be greatly appreciated.

I forgot to add that the innocculation ports have a bit of rust around them as the jar lids have been used for this purpose before and was wondering if this could be the cause of discoloration rather than contamination....
Denial is not just a river in Egypt... I know.

I've seen how thread usually go. I'll save you some trouble telling you now that the white stuff growing around the purple is part of the mold even though it may look like mushroom mycelium.

Ah I was afraid that would be the case. I knew those spores were way too old to still be viable. So I have four more syringes of mold spores yay! Lol well good thing today is trash day. Thanks guys as always your advice is wonderful and much appreciated.

It's a contaminated syringe probably but if the others aren't contaminated the spores in them could still be viable. I couldn't even guess as to if they are after that long simply because of the huge potential difference in the number of spores a syringe can contain, certain less spores would be viable but there may be enough.
