coffee addiction wtf

ive been drinking coffee for last 7-8 years and its the hardest thing for me to quit.
i can stop drinking alcohol i quit smoking stop using other drugs
but cant quit the fn coffee.
i managed to get it down to 12 oz single shot mocha but them often ill get another one in the evening.
its not the caffeine that i want its the chocolate taste with coffee...
i love chocolate since i was a kid i would eat chocolate as much as you give me.
and mochas just happen to have both chocolate and coffee
i tried drinking hot chocolate instead i tried drinking black tea, JavaVana Mate Tea that supposed to taste similar to coffee.
its been on and off for years i can quit for about 4-6 months and then slowly return to drinking..
it is annoying the hell out of me that i cant quit this thing. these coffee shops make is so damn good here in seattle and theres 3 routes i can take to work and each has about 3 coffee shops on the way
theres no way to avoid a coffee shop anywhere you go in seattle
i go out of state i dont have that problem i can get it once in a while and be cool with it..

So what's the problem? If it isn't affecting your quality of life besides the fact that it bugs you a little bit then you shouldn't worry about it otherwise.

Day 1: 1 cup coffee Day 2: 7/8 cup Day 3: 6/8 Day 4: 5/8 Day 5: 4/8 Day 6: 3/8 Day 7: 2/8 Day 8: 1/8
Day 9: You should be good, if not try decaff to see if that tricks your brain..

Exactly what I did. If you taper in small amounts, you dont notice the difference
I did: Day 1, 2: 1.5 my normal usage Day 3, 4:1.25 my normal Day 5,6: 1 my normal
Etcetera. I try and start out higher than my normal usage amount just because. You can do what you want

Exactly! The most effective detoxes use "Tapering". Cold Turkey causes a lot of pain/discomfort/WD and that is why many people relapse. The reason W/D even happens is because your brain is in shock from not having that synaptic connection it is used to. All it takes is a small amount to allow some transmission.
Tapering is the go to method for long standing discontinuation

maybe figure out how to make "mochas" at home so you're not spending so much on this habit.

Caffeine is the hardest addiction I have ever tried to kick. I am still trying to get off it I have been very hard on the energy drinks for years and have even stopped for over a month at a time but I just seem to keep falling back in. The caffeine doesn't even seem to do anything any more but I keep feeling like I need it. I am currently trying to ween myself off of it but I just seem to be drinking more pop to make up for it. My only advice is to slowly ween yourself off of it and just find something else to drink instead (like water) if you keep drinking even small amounts off caffeinated products it will keep leading you back.

i cold turkey everything else.
with coffee i just overload myself to a point where im drinking so much that i start feeling like shit. and thats the only way it worked so far i tried tapering off and got to an 8 oz a day then i went crazy and started drinking 2 double shot 16 oz mochas a day.
but im gonna try decaf as last resort.
maybe i should go to hypnotist and ask him to help me to ignore the coffee stands when im driving by them..

the problem is caffeine is not good. but its also not bad enough to quit for health reasons like smoking u kno.
i mean if i had a cup of coffee, a joint, a bag of mushies, and extasy sitting on a table. the cup of cofee would be gone in an instant and the rest would sit on a table for a year untouched thats how bad.. it is and i fn love extasy...

Holy shit man. I drink so much goddamn soda and I know that joint would come before the coffee (soda)

Coffee is the bomb. I wake up at 5:30am 6 days a week, so i basically need the stuff to function. For awhile I was doing the 5hr energy/redline/rebull etc... Now THAT shit is bad. I would feel sick if I didnt get my 5 hr energy, thats when I knew I had a problem haha. I just stick to good ol Joe now, 3 cups most days

Those look like shit.
Seriously though OP, if you're buying a $5 drink every day you should just buy an espresso machine. You can get a nice used one for ~$1200 plus $400 on a grinder and it will pay itself off in a little over a year.

Nothing wrong with a little coffee. Drink up, life is short and supposedly there are health benefits to drinking it.
My addiction is with Kratom which is in the same family.

I thought kratom was in the opiate family?
And OP, listen to icelander. Kratom is the shit. You could give it a try. I was alternating coffee and kratom for a while to intesify my workouts. Both stims are good. Kratom kills my focus though
