Nice stuff Ran-D. I like full size photos myself, but I am surfing on a desktop with a nice monitor.

Nice Shots Ran-d! Those oysters might be old, but there are still photogenic. I really enjoyed how those Tubaria shots turned out, they look better in your shots than they do in person.
GeneralSherman, I have used many nikon coolpix and those ones aren't very good for mushroom photography as they don't you enough freedom in manually adjusting the aperture and shutter speed.

Not sure which ones you're talking about.
general - I can't really help ya with the camera selection, I have no experience with any of those.

So what do you folks think about these? They were hiding under some cottonwood and oak leaves, partially submerged in the soil.

I only clicked on the last link, however I strongly recommend that one.
Also get a tripod and remote shutter release.

Its a remote that controls the shutter.... hands free picture taking basically. You get a cleaner image when you eliminate human unsteadiness. Thus tripod + remote = better picture. Unless you are really good at staying still, like a ninja.
I rarely ever bother with either, slows me down.. Matter'o'fact, I rarely use my camera anymore. Most my pictures now days are taken with my cellphone. But that will change when I get the camera I have been waiting for... - its almost in my price range now... about $3000 for the body currently. still saving for it, all the gear is gonna cost me about $7000. But I kinda need a greenhouse first.... so Cellphone it is!

I lost my remote years ago... and my newest camera didn't come with one.
My tripod is too much trouble.. really nice old one, but kinda a process to use, heavy and bulky.
I have learned that breathing exercises help take most the shake out of the hand and body... and lots of practice keeping steady... slow down the breathing rate then exhale slowly when taking the shot.
