They remind me of what it would be like if you could take all trippy bands and mixed them up in a blender.. They seem to feed off the essence of band's like radiohead and doves but take it to the next level to the point where they are above and beyond them all.. Even Pink Floyd..

Their new album "Happy Songs for Happy People" is absolutely brilliant, in my opinion.
Particularly the songs "Ratts of the Capital", "Hunted By A Freak", and "I Know You Are But What Am I?"...

I like them alot. I saw them a little more than a week ago, They were great, but i had an interesting experience. This guy next to me was smokin a joint during their 2nd song, and I asked to hit it. He split it with me. I got realllllly high, then 10minutes later, the guy passedout, falling backwards to the floor. That scared the shit outa me. I got really paranoid then the music started scaring the shit outa me. Mogwai is really scary when fucked up. Each musician had this look on his face as if to say "oh god why do i have to play this note? why am i doing this to them? This is fucked up" and inbetween songs they all looked like they could just stop playing any second. It was scary. "you don't konw jesus" was the most outstanding song that i can remember, i couldn't remember much else. Any guess to what was in the joint? it didn't taste much like good bud so i assume it wasn't. The music was so overpowering i had to leave before it was done. It was making me depresseed.

Thusrday's today! Let us know what you think.
I'm seeing them in October. You tripping for the gig? I'm thinking about it... not sure it would be too good an idea though...
I really like the new stuff, but I'm yet to get as into it as I am into their older shit. Just now it's EP+6 and Rock Action. I like how they evolve with each album. You can tell a band's talented when they've got that desire for new sounds, not willing to just recreate clones of their old stuff.
I hope they tone down the loudness from last time. Yes it's an experience, but it freaks some people out, and sometimes it takes away from the enjoyment when your ears start hurting.

Check out their website: http://www.mogwai.co.uk/ Buy a mogwai tshirt/hoodie. Spread the name of Mogwai to the ignorant masses. By the way, who was supporting at the gigs you guys have been to? Was it Part Chimp or Bardo Pond, or someone else entirely? I heard they were trying to get Squarepusher for some dates... how awesome would that combination be for a gig?!

I just saw them, and they were good, i just thought they were hard to get into live.. I think its that whole music genre, and how the shows are. standing up in a super crowded club, being deafened. I think a lot of these bands would really be much more enjoyable if it were outdoors, and maybe optional seating. just a couple cents.

part chimp opened at mine. Just mogwai+partchimp. I thought Part Chimp's songs all sounded a little too similar, but they were talented atleast.

I quite like Mogwai, although I only have one album - "Young Team." I don't think I'd enjoy them live though. It's the kind of music that I have on in the background while doing something or getting stoned. I also think it's good music to have on while lying in bed at night and just letting your mind wander.
They remind me of a group called "Godspeed You Black Emperor!" Has anyone else listened to them?
