You guys should check out the trout fishing in New Zealand, some of the farms in NZ have fish up to 20lb. And yes, the wild fish get just as big. On this side of the pond, Tasmania has trout up to 10lb, sometimes bigger

Rub it in.

I've taken trout over 10 lbs from Oregon waters however.

Not NZ  But we got some nice ones too

not my picture either, Lake Ontario
New Yorks record brown is at 33 pounds and Lake trout is at 41 and Rainbows at 31. All caught from Lake Ontario.

I'd love to go fish Argentina and Chile then hope a plane to New Zealand. The waters are beautiful and the trout are large with wonderful landscapes for sure.  Always read articles and drooled over the places

I'm on a mission this afternoon/evening to bag me a jew/mulloway as there has been frequent catches around the area of late.
Hopefully I can get something like this

It's almost impossible in Oregon now to find non mercury contaminated cats.  We have ruined so much water it's not funny.  There is still some good trout water but that's about it for clean fish.  Fuck!

I'm glad I got in on the good days about 40 years ago. That was back in Michigan when I was a kid about the age of most of you guys.

In Wisconsin the booklet you get with the fishing license says that all walleyes in Wisconsin have mercury. There a strict restrictions on consumption for children and women of childbearing ages.

We eat the small to medium walleyes and release the cats because they are usually big and old.

Wisconsin got all the mercury contamination from logging the river systems for decades. I'm guessing the same thing happened in Oregon.

Right now I am a huge fan of monkey faced eel, cause they are always there when you want to catch them, and they taste really delicious... takes next to no gear and falls into ocean foraging, which I am becoming a huge fan of.
