What qt size do you recommend for a pressure cooker?

go larger, i use a 23 qt and it fits 7 qts

I use a 16qt and it also fits 7 quarts.....I guess it depends on the manufacturer. Anything that holds 5-7+ quart jars is going to be what most will recommend. Obviously if you plan on never needing 5-7 sterilie jars out of one cook, a smaller unit would be more effective based on its size....But keeping in mind that You will save costs and energy in the long run to do more at once.

yeah i could put a few pint jars on top of my quarts but can't fit any more actual qts in it

Get a spare canning rack and you can fit 10 quart jars in a 23 qt cooker, 7 sitting upright, put the extra rack on top of those, and you can fit an extra 3 laying horizontal

depends on the model, ny old presto would only fit 7 qts no matter how you put them, 10 qt's of sub all togetherif you loaded pints or halfs

Oh ok, well in that case, get the 16 qt, unless you plan on eventually doing spawn bags, than the 23 qt would probably be the way to go.

You should be able to fit 9-10 quarts in any 22-23qt PC.
You can always lay them sideways on top of the other ones.
