Before I go any further, let me remind you that this oh so great country is in a debt that will never be repaid, (((18,000,000,000,000+)))even if china did try to buy us out and turn the land into a 5,000 mile wide sweat shop, thanks to good ol kids like me who cant afford to pay this shit back. (and military and prisons....bllaaa bllaa haha you get the point)
glass is half-full kinda guy I see..but man, theres only so much you can do before you go insane. Its just a matter of how bad you want it(and if you want to pretend to see past all the bullshit), and well, I obviously didn't have the triumph to excel to those necessities. I blame myself partially YES but also, society has a piss poor way of PROPERLY informing its future generations of whats deemed morally correct and incorrect. Location plays a huge role in that as well, but then again, what doesn't.
So, enough about loans and school, past is past and theres nothing you can do about it except learn from mistakes and failures. I'm here to talk about the food industry for cryin out loud not about future school endeavors. Thanks again though for the trip down memory lane.

I just think you should strive to do something better than the restaurant industry. Ambition. Someone mentioned working for a catering company...?
Maybe it's just because I'm bipolar and I fucking hate customers...but I can't handle that kind of work. It's way too stressful.
What were you majoring in when you were in school? Is it something that has plentiful entry level jobs? There's no reason you can't get a job doing something and apply for scholarships at the same time. I mean, you didn't FINISH school so you can't say that a college education is useless.
What I've found is that it's REALLY easy to get into the restaurant industry...but in order to be a server, you have to already have experience serving. Nobody is going to hire someone to be a server without having experience serving. "How do I get experience if I don't have experience?" Good question, it's a fucking slippery slope.

For reals.
I mean one can make some good money waiting tables at a classy joint. But that'w all you are going to do, and that's allt he experince you are going to get. Of course you could move into bar tending...
Front side at a restarount should be a lay over to something else.
Back side shoud be a lay over as well unl;ess you like shitty hours, shitty pay and crappy bosses.
I mean, see what it did to my spelling.

Oh totally bro I agree with you 100%! I do need to strive for something better than that, its just Im trying to rebuild my social skills up as well. And I'm not saying its useless, I would have looved to finish more than anything!!
And hey I understand about the customer, in that aspect I am on board with you 100% again, I'm just trying a different path that I haven't been down before, and possibly it will lead me to something new.. plus I would enjoy the satisfaction have having tips in my pocket, just so I am assured my baby will have the necessities she needs every night.
(just so you are aware, this was not a child of my offspring, but my girlfriends daughter who I see as my own blood, and has no father to take care of her. Again another fucked up story for another time haha, its like living in the twilight zone man.)
I was studying Audio Engineering. 9/10 times, you get into the industry through an internship(working in studio or with a firm), but I cant work for no pay at this point in my life, you feel me?
Seriously your a trooper for sticking it out this long though ha, I appreciate it more than you know. You shall receive transcendence on your deathbed my friend. Have a good evening. Shut eye is calling me.

mindOmy said: So long story short, I want to break into the restaurant/food industry and being as I have no working experience
you wait until they're closed, jimmy the door and then help yourself, make sure they have a bar, liquor is the way to go if you're breaking in
HAHAHA! THERE WE GO! Finally someone caught onto the misleading title
Nice to meet ya Prisoner#1, hope ta see you around the forums, thanks for dropping in!!
I worked with a guy in an upscale establishment when I was 16, he got fired and about 2 weeks later he broke in and stole all the liquor. he might not have been caught but being the retarded cokehead he was he used his ID to cut lines out on the bar and snort them in some sort of act of defiance and he left it and his wallet behind like a tard.
the title made me think of him
