I brewed up 30 grams of Acacia Confusa Rootbark powder,3 times for an hour filtering each hour. Then boiled down the final filtered product to a thick red half pint.
Can I still use egg whites to remove the tannins? Even though the brew has been boiled down?

It's best to use the egg whites when you have a lot of water (as to not lose potency apparently). So imo, pour it into a large pot, add more water (have atleast 1000mls of liquid, imo) and put the pot on low to medium heat, when you start seeing steam, add in the egg whites. And careful not to apply too much heat at first, as too much heat will cook the egg before it's able to do anything. Once the egg whites are added, then you can cut up the heat and boil it back down to a small amount of liquid.

Someone in another thread told me yes it cooks and you filter it out but I haven't done it yet so if I'm wrong someone correct me.

Yup, the egg white cooks when boiling the brew, and you simply filter it out once the brew is boiled down to a smaller, filterable size. And it's recommended that the brew is allowed to sit in the fridge or freezer overnight (i sit it in the freezer and the next day thaw it) as this allows for the remaining sediment in the brew to precipitate out and fall to the bottom. The resulting tea is see through and is an orange-red in color, and it's taste is very mild (practically tasteless). I generally try to get as much tea as i can away from the remaining sediment (which is like fine tuning wine and can take a few days) but one can drink the tea right there on the spot and just try to avoid the sediment.

Yup it's very useful. The egg white method makes Acacia, Mimosa, Chaliponga and probably even Chacruna brews pretty much tasteless and they are very easy to get down :smile:
