Pasteurized casing lifetime.

So i made up 3 substrate bags for monotubs, then one of my tubs failed. so now i have a big ol bag of 80%coir 20-30% verm. I pasteurized it and i wonder if itll last a week or two until its ready to be cased? There is only one hole in the bag from the thermometer and i sealed it with duct tape. its in a spawn bag and has a microfilter on it. Should i tape over that?

you can try it, but my experience says no.
edit: but you can pasteurize the same material again.

Are you sure it'll stay sterile? With that edit you posted I was thinking, keep it somewhere sterile til then, and then just drop it back Into a bucket and mix it around & check for moisture content and repeat pasteurization

Pasteurized and sterilized are two different things.

I know. But you can't really sterilize your casing or it'll lead to contams

But you did not sterilize it, and therefore things will continue to grow. I would guess that depending on your casing choice, that would be a fair statement.
Chances are with it being coir and verm you would be fine. However you just had a learning experience in loss, and should help lead you to better procedures as you cultivate more.

With some mushroom species sterilizing the casing layer will lead to significantly lower yields and delays pinning.

yes pasturized is the preffered mthod for many reasons i was just pointing out that people have pasurized casing layers for cubes, casp just dry your stuff out till your ready to use it again but generally pasturizing gives you a couple week jump start on things

I'm guessing OP is growing Cubensis and is probably using it as as a bulk substrate rather than a casing layer anyway, but I figured I'd mention it just in case.

Well i wouldnt want to toss it. If i sterlized it i guess i could save it for my next tub, its either that or throw it away right?

TBH, Id just keep it in whatever bag it is in, and sterilize or pasteurize it when you are ready to use it. I would not chance waiting a week or 2 after heat-treatment.
