If you found brown cup mushrooms like that, compare with Peziza species, maybe something like P. domiciliana.

it was on a tile floor. the floor and bathroom stays clean. but when this house was built there was no trim on the bottom of the sheet rock. i'm thinking there might be a small hole from under the house where it does smell really moldy under there and the draft of air flow is coming from underneath. is that a possible way for mushrooms to grow?

Don't no what kind. But finally got rid of mine by pouring comet powder on it. Tried alcohol and bleach with no success.

If there is a mushroom growing in your bathroom, the root of the problem is that there is a water leak somewhere, which you need to get rid of. The mushroom itself is harmless, but it's a sign that conditions are good for mold (bad) and structural problems (also bad).

We did have a thread going at some point for these types of finds.
