so i live in trininty county california about 90 miles inland from arcata and my elevation is about 2000 ft. i was wondering if i could find psilocybe cyanescens where i live and when the fruiting season is.
if anyone could help me out it would be much appreciated because its the begining of january and i feel i could be missing out on an opportunuty to find these

They are out of season, they start popping up around september/oct or so in my area

People are finding them right now not too far south of there.

That is what happens when you use 1 name for a bunch of different species.

Mushroomobserver doesn't have any, a few observations in California but none with microscopy, some look like they could be Gymnopilus ventricosus or validipes. They all look the same to my eyes... :shrug:

Yeah, I really don't think that G. "spectabilis" occurs on the west coast, or if it does, it occurs very rarely in isolated hardwood dominant areas.
