And it's even funnier to me since I'm currently practicing such calisthenics moves. I'll make sure I don't practice them close to a bathroom door.

I was actually gonna edit my post to mention that, but then I thought that both bands would still be just as famous with or without their jazz influence. Maybe not though? I know what you mean. If it wasn't for jazz, those guys may not have ever picked up a musical instrument? I honestly don't know.
Pretty sure they both played music before they heard jazz, but the influence is there from the people around them. Chicago Blues and Electric Blues are symbiotic with jazz, and rock n roll is a straight rip off of boogie woogie by white people. They started on rock n roll, then basically invented psychedelic rock
Not sure how much floyd was influenced directly by jazz but I know the beatles were indulging.
Damn good time to be alive
A lot of people don't give jazz the props it so rightly deserves. If you want to hear some of the best 'Swing' from that era, check out Duke Ellington's 1956 Newport Jazz Festival...particularly 'Diminuendo & Crescendo In Blue' off that album (you can YouTube it). It's almost impossible to sit still while listening to that 27 chorus saxophone solo by Paul Gonsalves. Fuckin' incredible!!

Used to have that CD, also a DVD from a few shows later which was great. More a fan of New Orleans and Modern Jazz though (Modern, not contemporary [50-60s]).
