Thanks cronicr! I'm not sure what the importance is of the 70% but that is what I have so I'm good on that. My verm is not too big but not too small it's just right. Some big pieces but it's nothing the ole coffee grinder can't fix. Once I get funds I'll start buying Oust. I got two separate sanitizers. The Lysol said it was specifically for air and then I got a Great Value surface sanitizer. Using both for maximum affect.

Get an air filter with a UV light on it. Let it run in the room your working in for a couple hours. I'm certain this helps rid the atmosphere of airborne contaminants.

Sure it does.......but it is also 100% unnecessary.

Jars/bags/tubs/trays should colonize @ room temperature getting ambient/indirect light.
Main pinning triggers are full colonization, FAE and Evaporation off of the substrate.
Light is a secondary pinning trigger. For tropical species temperature is not a pinning factor.
P. Cubensis are a tropical species. You could colonize at 70F and fruit at 80F with great results.
Light has been proven beneficial during all stages of mycellium growth. Mushrooms like mammals have a circadian rhythm.
You want ambient/indirect light(on a 12/12 schedule preferably) for colonization and consolidation.
You want direct/intense 6500K light on a 12/12 schedule for fruiting.
Optimal temps are mid 70s throughout the whole grow, but anywhere from 70F-80F is acceptable.
Incubation is outdated/uneeded unless temps in the range stated above cannot be kept.
The inside of the jar is always a few degrees warmer than the outside because the mycellium produces heat..mycellium tends to stall at temps above 86F , and contams thrive.
Fruiting at cooler temps tends to produce denser, meatier fruits, while fruiting at higher temps will often produce hollow, less dense stems.

The ONLY reason I paid so much attention to cleanliness is because of that Jim Read tutorial that stresses the importance of sterile technique. I've seen other videos and teks that pay little if not any attention to sterile procedures.

I turned off the heating pad a few hours ago. Figured I would just be patient and let it incubate at room temperature. Once 100% colonized, I was thinking about experimenting with this heat shock tek on a few cakes http://www.shroomery.org/11403/Heat-shock Let me know what you guys think about this.

Thanks for all of this information. I did not expect to be gifted with such knowledge especially on my first post, not to mention I've been reading for countless hours for days and nights on end and have not found a single shred of this data.
Ultimately, the purpose of this grow log is to inform and educate the newb mycologist in their first attempts. I hope that perhaps some beginner will read this and won't be second guessing themselves as I did. And as stated above, sterility should NOT be an issue of over compulsiveness, but rather something one considers in their ventures. Just be smart, cautious, and logical, i.e. if your needle touches a surface, it may be best to flame it. Use your instincts as well as your best judgement. And as the old saying goes, you are always better safe than sorry.

Updated. Still waiting for signs of growth on the PFCA cakes.
I will take the time to take pictures of colonization thus far if anyone should request it. Personally I don't see the point in documenting each increase in colonization but if you wish to see it I have no problem and plenty of time.

Still no visible signs of growth on my PFCA jars. KSSS is still colonizing.
I decided that since the classic jars have been taking so long to show any mycelium, I will pressure cook 3 new jars tonight and in the morning, I will use one of the other syringes of the same strain and test my luck with that. I also plan on using the standard verm:2/brf:1 ration but this time I will add diluted coffee.
Using a previously used keurig cup, I brewed some coffee and I will dilute it with the ratio of 3/8 cup water and 1/8 cup coffee. I'm also using a mortar and pestle to make the grains of verm smaller and the surviving chunks of grinded brown rice into a fine powder and see if that helps things along.
Is this diluted coffee thing a good idea??????

Updated
Every single PFCA has shown no signs of germination. My guess is because my room temperature is too cold which can vary anywhere between 68-72 F. Wild cubes would never germinate in these temperatures, at least not to my knowledge.

Its been 2 weeks for 6 jars and 1 day shy of 1 week for the 3 I inoculated with a new syringe. Still no signs of growth. Besides the temperature, I don't know what I could be doing wrong.
