Boletus piperatus, Peppery Bolete
    #1936385 - 09/20/03 10:39 PM (13 years, 2 months ago)

I found these under a pine next to the Amanitas, growing in grass.

The distinct charachteristics of this mushroom are its peppery taste and the bright yellow mycellium at it's base.

I Identified this mushroom with my new copy of  Mushrooms Demystified on step 2 of the key! I truly love this book!
Thanks for showing it to me Mr. Mushrooms.

Without further adue...

This shot is for Toxicman.

bleh.. I still have the peppery taste in my mouth.  :tongue2:

Great specimens and photos. Thanks for the nice "display" photo. They don't taste very good, do they?

Happy mushrooming!
