Strange and frequent cap mutations * 1
    #19362343 - 01/03/14 07:53 AM (10 years, 1 month ago)

My dog has taken note of many mushroom caps growing with a strangely consistant mutation of the cap. What casuses this? I have searched a lot, and Ive found some posts with this same mutation, but I havent found any answers about what causes it. My dog obviously eats the mutated mushrooms anyway, and reportedly there is nothing wrong with them...except for the fact that their spore production and spore release is all jacked up with this mutation (for obvious reasons). I can post more pictures too if needed.
There has been a couple times where my dog got a few drops of h2o2 on some of his cakes by accident. Im not sure if this info is relevant... but there it is.

Thanks

Come on. Everyone knows cats are the only animal that takes notes on consistent cap mutations.

You should inform your Dog that looks like rosecomb, a genetic mutation.

Yes I'm on my first grow and thought I had cobweb mold so i sprayed with peroxide but it turned out I had just waited too long to put in fruiting conditions so mycelium was extra fuzzy but anyway I had a few mutations similar to what u have, prob from peroxide IMO

I had a few of those in the first flush of my current grow. I thought I had a bacterial contam for a while but my firs flush yielded great and my second is well on its way. I wouldn't worry to much

I've read that its an genetic mutation and sometimes can be caused by excessive nutrients in your substrate. I have had several mutants using mad bags but and a few on brf cakes. They get treated like the rest dried and eaten.

You might wish to tell your dog to keep the Lysol & Oust sprays out of your fruiting area.

Just like every person is different so are mushrooms doesn't mean a contam. Doesn't mean its not though
I'd still go with genetics

Yes but you can only really smoke them effectively from banned 40 and 60W light bulbs with the soft white coating scrapped off. Remove the socket without breaking the bulb put the tail in and then heat it from below with a lighter pull the smoke out of the bulb with a straw.
