Then how about the numerous studies showing rising temperatures as a whole across the entire globe? You're fine in an ideology fight, but when you go up against actual peer-reviewed data you're gonna lose every time. Give it up before you embarrass yourself in this thread.
There has been no global warming for 15 years

Is this right or is it just because it is usually mostly water?

Actually, it doesn't. I think it must be a common misconception among chemists. I've always heard that you must store glacial acetic acid (100% water free) in plastic bottles because glass will crack upon freezing. I think it must come from the fact that the acid freezes close to room temp and the crystals look formidable.

I think you should read the entire report before claiming it supports your position.

I'm not sure where you get the no warming for 15 years? Australia just went for broke on the records. Besides, these claims are based on atmospheric warming, the oceans are heating up.
Furthermore, the trends to observe must be greater than 15 or 16 years. look at the last 200 or so, look at the last 2000 if you can.
For example, Australia has been in a La Nina system since about 2006, I'm confident we are coming out of it but should we dive straight into an El Nino those records will get smashed again, excellent for people who want action on climate change, had we stayed in the La Nina though, climate deniers may have strengthened their arguments with all the lovely temperate rainy weather associated with a La Nina.

My position has always been that there has been no warming for 15 years. This paper says
Quote:
Global mean surface temperatures rose rapidly from the 1970s, but have been relatively flat over the most recent 15 years to 2013.
I deliberately picked a paper by people who are invested in finding it. And they couldn't.

yea, it states that despite the fact that surface temp is usually cited as the only measure of climate change, there are others we are aware of and behave the way current models suggest given human driven climate change. it also goes on to say current models predict periods of temporary temperature leveling, which would describe the 15 year period you are talking about.

Not much since they are too small for me to read. (edit) I found the bigger ones. Why do they always start their charts at convenient points for their arguments?
What do you think of these?
