Best printing tek for storage?
    #1936267 -

My cat (now living in Holland) is going to be doing some spore printing and would like to know the best way to make prints that will last and be viable. He would also like to know how long a print will remain viable under idea conditions. Well not IDEAL, but realistic.

For short term use he'll be using a yogurt cup like Tek.

Thanks!
Doc

keep em in the fridge, and theyll last a long time. if you got no access to a fridge, then keep em somewhere cool

Take them on glass microscope slides, and seal all the edges with tape. They should remain viable for 2-3 years. Viability does of course, decrease with age.

If you really want to preserve them, cultures are where its at.
I have read that they can be stored over 25 years.

spores store better than cultures. A full print will remain viable for many years if kept in relative cool conditions.

I've used spore syringes that were over 2 years old and gotten growth. I've used prints that sat in a room temperature closet for 5 years and had no real trouble getting a culture going.

Do you need to store longer than 5 years?

PM me with any cultivation questions.

I just looked at my profile and realized I had a website at one point in time on geocities, it's not there anymore and I have no idea what I had on it. Anybody remember my website from several years aga? PM if so please.

Thanks for the replies and sorry I didn't get back to the thread. I don't have internet access at home right now so I only get to check in every few days.

My cat is thinking of 1-3years as the max time he'd need a print to last and be viable so I guess if he practices until he's good with sterile conditions glass slides are the way to go.
