FC feedback needed. Myco 101

Hi guys.
I've been frequenting the forum for well over a month now; unfortunately after I purchased the Myco 101 kit, and realized I could have done it all at a fraction of the cost. You live, you learn.
My question pertains to the fruiting chamber which was included. It's quite counter-intuitive from the much-acclaimed SGFC, where this one came with just one giantass hole on the side, and some thick, shoddy filter paper covering it. I have filled it with the included perlite (however there seems to be water pooled in at the botton). I fan and mist anywhere between 3-6 times a day, depending on the day. The cake is placed atop the jar lid.
I do not own a hygrometer, and from what I read was advised not to buy a cheaper one, since calibration seems to be a recurring issue with these. My concern lies with:
-Humidity levels: Would this design be sufficient in maintaining the required humidity. Also the extra water under the perlite (the top layer being comparatively dryer, yet moist enough) is of concern to me, as many seem to say that it's not conducive to growing conditions.
I'd love it if someone explained the shortcomings of this, as well as the FC I received. Should I toss this FC and make myself a SGFC? It bemuses me that a renowned company may have elected such a shoddy, lazy design. Or is it just fine for maintaining humidity levels, and for fruiting? Any and all help is immensely appreciated!

Perlite does nothing for humidity just sitting in the bottom of a tub. Air has to flow through it to pick up humidity.
Sure mushrooms will grow. Cubes are very very resilient and will find a way to fruit despite your worst intentions
I would make a SGFC. That perlite is only going to be a likely mold factory just sitting stagnant on the bottom of that tub.
This should explain the workings of a balance of RH FAE and how the perlite works and also at the same time explain how the FC you bought doesn't work at all.
Fruiting Chamber A SGFC has 1/4" holes spaces 2 inches apart in a grid patten on all six sides. 4-6 inches of moist perlite. No attachments made to it with any extra things like humidifiers. Optimally the SGFC should be in the middle of a room. No fans should be run in the room with the SGFC, but a cracked window is OK. A humidifier in your house can help to raise the ambient RH but don't put it near your SGFC put it in the other corner of the room if you do decide to run a humidifier at all. The SGFC IMO should have at least 6-12 inches of room from any wall on all 6 sides. This includes finding some sort of raisers to elevate the SGFC off of the surface it's on.
Misting and Fanning. This is a source of much grief and 100's of posts a week here. Misting and fanning is not at all complicated as it needs to be. In general you'll mist your cakes until they glisten(yes they can even with the verm on them) and then fan right after the mist. You can mist your cakes directly and you should. When you notice the cake is no longer glistening you can mist it again and then fan. This occurs on average of 3-5 times a day. Don't worry about sleeping or being gone 12 hours. Just do it when you're around and don't forget about it is all. Fanning is not FAE it's only purpose is to relive the high RH air so that the cakes can get a kickstart on evaporation.
FAE This is a phenomenon (Fresh air exchange) in a properly built SGFC this is constantly happening. The perlite is naturally cooler than the surrounding air this moves molecules closer to eachother as the lose kinetic energy. This creates low pressure which pulls air up through the bottom holes. As the air moves through the perlite it picks up humidity and keeps the chamber at or above 90%RH. This occurs naturally without the fanning and is why we like to have no fans in the room and is also why fanning after misting is not a replacement for FAE.

I think the idea of those would be to have a fan running in the room through your filtered hole and forced down through the perlite, not as effective as a sgfc but before the sgfc was designed for years people just put perlite in the bottom of a tote or used aquariums. bottom line find a way to get air moving through there constantly, if your a smoker of any kind rtake a blast and blow it in your tub close it up and watch it, you should get an idea of where your air is coming in and being pushed out

It doesn't matter what i think of you...all that matters is clean spawn I'm tired do me a favor
