Seems to me they have many benefits: seemingly easy to aquire, modify, and clean out.

So anyhoo, I can get these used (with little rust) for around $1500 US. Seems like a pretty good idea compared to a steel building or a stick frame.
They are also stackable, which could make for one hellava cool looking Shroom farm.
Just wondering if there is any down points I have not considered (been on my mind for for than a minute).

that's cheap! They're 2500 for 20ft and 3500 for 40ft here. A new Al building is almost as cheap here, and I'd like a gabled roof.

That really does seem cool. bury them after painting for corrosion protection bunker style and it'd surely make a good damp cave-like environment even perfect for growing no?

I grew in one of these for years. Wouldn't recommend it. It rusts, hard to insulate, cutting into it for wiring and air system is a pain. Also the 8 ft width gets irritating, and I'm a skinny guy. But I grew 30 lbs per week in there for a couple years, it works. I'll have to post pictures soon. Insulate it from the outside is my main tip

If you can bury it like RR did then you won't need insulation.

I have this picture in my head of a few stacked in a radial pattern (like a spiral staircase) or some Frank Lloyd Wright design.

I work in a metal sculpture studio and am fairly profecient with a torch and multiple types of welding so mods are not a worry for me. Rust however may be a problem, working on a solution.

Rust is just well....rust. Not gonna hurt the mush. But def bury it or is will cook in the summer. And that is cheap. Steel is expensive where I am.

The city I am near has a UPS hub, two Ford assembly plants, Rubermaid, Dow.... so there is a plethora of 20/40 footers that come in by train and barge.
Anyway, this is the price they gave me last week so who knows what tomorrows price will be.
