does this look like mold? it randomly got black but its so colonized. i would hate to trash it.

I had a few like this. Seems to be a 'thing' with rye. Keep an eye on it. If the anomaly grows it's a problem. If it's just a single grain or two that stay exactly the same it's probably nothing to worry about.
My personal opinion though is that the first pic doesn't look promising

It happens when my rye (always colonized) rubs against the bag. Once it gets air and a little moisture, arial myc will be take it back over.

ahh i see, well i disturbed it a little and it looked like it was growing, it looked burnt, the top two or three rye grains were fully black and the ones touching those were half black, i tossed the bag already :/ but its all good.
i past a coir/verm mix for the substrate, and i just dropped 2 Ablino A+ tubs into consolidation, once 100% do you think i could use that coir/verm for my casing? like would it still be past/sterile if i keep it in a clean place?
