Super sticky unknown
    #19361013 - 01/02/14 10:10 PM (10 years, 28 days ago)

Habitat: growing on a dead hardwood, no leaves were present on ground, must of been dead for awhile.  My guess is that it was a filbert tree.

Gills: see photos

Stem: fine powdery fibers thicker and more dense at base.

Cap: biggest one was 2". The cap was extremely sticky.  To get the close up of the gills I just pushed the cap against the bark of the tree and it stuck!

Spore print color: has not released spores yet... I will try and get another couple specimens tomorrow if need be.

Bruising: none

Hell yeah. close that shiz.
Does anyone know if wild strains have the odd physical characteristics that commercial strains do, when grown indoors?

From what I've gathered, high co2 and low light conditions causes the elongated white looking "Enokitake".    I've never tried them, it's a shame but I'm not a fan of buying store bought mushrooms.

You're also in a great area to hunt a majority of the year...lucky :shakefist:

Honestly, I don't know If I've ever had an edible I enjoyed as much as A. bisporus from the store...I know that's terrible of me...but nothing compares...Either the texture is weird or the taste is off. A. bisporus seems to offer a perfect medium for me.

They sell them (along with a lot of other cool stuff you find nowhere else) at Asian markets, there is one of them in Albany and I think it may be called 'GT market' or something like that. I recommend the dried squid, it's like sweet and salty jerky.
