Is there any way to distinguish between the effects of different strains of cubensis just by the looks of the cap? For example, the difference in effects from a B+ strain vs. a penis envy strain. Could you tell what strain the mushroom is just by its looks?

The biggest was 43g wet, I was kind of surprised for this time of the year.
Nice shots, the one under "???" is an Agaricus species.
There's definitely alot going on in Florida right now, while I was out there I also saw many Laccaria, Hebeloma, all types of stinkhorns and a few Amanita.

The one you have a question mark by looks to me like a cort, great hunts going down in Feb. I love it, found active pans as well as inactive ones but no cubes yesterday seems they stalled maybe from the cold weather that came down 2 weeks ago.

You cant really tell the strain from looking at it and mostly the effects of cubes are the same. Some maybe a little more potent then others such as penis envys.

Strains do not exist with wild mushrooms like they do with cultivated ones. They are created through selective cloning. There is no hard evidence that any strain of cubensis is truly stronger than any other. Growing conditions seem to have more to do with it. I have a feeling that the strains that are said to be stronger are usually just pickier about their growing conditions forcing the grower to pull off a potent grow or fail. I have eaten penis envy and it got me super high off not that much, so I know that there could be something to the whole thing.

Nah, that's certainly Agaricus. They are very common in pastures/fields and some species make excellent edibles.

No doubt and the one below that is probably Stropharia.

I agree with Stropharia. To my eyes they can often look very much like cubensis at a casual glance, but that annulus is a dead giveaway.

Your right, its so whitey white. Guess I wanting to see a cort or a blewit and got too stoned earlier to look. So much variety out there, and more wet weather coming.

Nice hunt dude!
The bottom two are Agaricus subrufescens and Stropharia coronilla.
Both species are very common in grassy areas here in SWFL.
Cheers from down the street.

There's a few mentions of it online, try looking under Xylariaceae. The species I've find from dung matches well with Poronia pileiformis.

I think I found that species yesterday in the same field! They seemed old though, it hasn't rained much this week.

Some more finds from yesterday
Some withering palm Gymnopilus.

??? Growing from dung

??? Growing from dung

??? growing from grass under an oak

Pan. Papilionaceus with distinct nipples, pretty cool

Uhmm... do Antillarum get this big?

An active Pan. Cyan hidden amongst Pan. Paps

Panaeolus Cyanescens

P. Cubensis. I love the "Scales" on the younger one.

The area

Peace out
