Either way its getting flushed. I think it just might have been a retarded looking cube lol. Plus I cut all the stems at once this morning so I didnt have that to look at for bluing.

governmentname said: Anyway whats your take on this? Both def cubes but ones gills are very light. They both are bluing very noticeably. The one with the light gills is the one that was a baby this morning. Do the gills darken up with age?

You've found a sterile Psilocybe cubensis.

It doesn't produce spores. I found one in the years I've collected Psilocybe cubensis, which I keep in my jar of fungal oddities. You also may come across some that aren't exactly sterile, but are very weak spore producers. Two in two days seems unusual though. If you find any more anomalies take lots of pictures!

I find lots like that, and they do blue more than usual now that I'm thinking about it haha crazy. Would cloning that cube produce a myc that would always produce sterile fruits? I would think cultivators would be all over this in order to not have to deal with sporeulaltion. Nice work Gov, it's only gonga get crazyer when things get soaked.

governmentname said: Heres the dry one from yesterday with a normal one for reference. From above it looks like any other cube, turn it over and its like wtf? Thanks for letting me know the rarity, I too will keep these for shits & gigs. If you look it looks like some spores are on it but that is just from it being in the stash with the others. It was not like that before I dried it and tossed it in.

They can discolor from white to that color usually from age or after being picked. Another place to inspect is the veil, if you have any spore deposit it will show up there, whereas a completely sterile specimen will be more or less pure white.
You take nice clear photos by the way. It would be a pleasure to view your mushrooms as you see them in the wild, before they are picked and in their natural habitat.
