Make sure you are paying attention when hunting edibles, everyone!

It has come to my attention that I pronounced blewit incorrectly. It should sound like "darn, I really blew it."

There you can better see the rusty gills of the Cortinarius which has snuck into my blewit patch.

Hey everybody, here's some cool gyms I've been finding so far in the new year, aside from the tons of penetrans/sapineus.

Growing from pine log-

Growing from old pine stick on the floor. I'm pretty sure they're gyms but not like any I've seen before. The gills were light yellow/orange. There was an old, waterlogged specimen on the same stick that was entirely orange-

I thought these to be penetrans but the "teeth" gills on the one were pretty interesting-

I use my phone nowadays and I just upload from tinypic, get the image link and paste here. You just have to change the inside of the brackets from IMG to image.

Man, i have been finding tons of corts mixed in with the blewits, too. they are everywhere here. they look so similar from the top. I think the purple color on the corts is one of the prettiest colors in the mushroom world.

Found lots of awesome fungi today. :mushroom2:
I have these pics of gyms from today. Found about three or four different species. Ill prolly start my 2014 thread later with more and much better quality photos.

This species was found most today and I think they are gymnopilus picreus? Like I said I will have better photos of more specimens up later.

Hopefully  Gymns really aren't studied enough! Their seems to be way more Gymn confusion than most other genius's lol... and I'm sure you could contribute a lot down there!

First hunt of 2014 for me. I just wanted to check out this small public access pasture I found, definitely wasn't expecting to find anything. Gotta love florida "Winters".
Sorry for the blurry phone photos, I didn't take my camera out with me.

Went back to the same field with a little more daylight time and a camera.
Photo credit to my girlfriend for these cool pictures. =]

Pan. Papilionaceus? Fruiting on dung.

Gymnopilus palmicola or Cyanopalmicola? Growing on a large palm log.

What looks like Pan. Antillarum and some Pan. Cyan.

Big motherfucking active pans. I've seen big ones, but never in a group like this.

Cubensis

I love the cubes with nipples like this.

Phone pictures

Size reference for those giant Pan. Cyans

I was pretty sure this was a water logged Pan. Cyan. but at a closer look it seemed off.
Bruised blue, so it's got to be active.

I'm going to post this as an Id in it's own thread, I'd like to learn more about Gyms for this upcoming season. Anyone have any thoughts? These were from the large group growing on the palm log in the first pictures.

The Uglies of the bunch, Tea time!

The Beauties

I've seen some pretty deformed Cyans in my days, but this is one backwards ass mushroom.

Another strange Cyan and an upturned cube

The lot

My ghetto rigged drying station.

Ohhhh man, I hope 2014 keeps up like this. So many more public lands with cattle leases to explore.

Holy shit! nice haul.

Your Gymnopilus might be palmicola. I think cyanopalmicola only grows in Mexico.

On the third shot, though, is that bruising? or dirt or something on the cap?
