I would really like to hear from 3isris9 & impossiblefungus. Like what the pigs said and what 3 & impos said. This is valuable info guys. They had no right to harass you for walking on public land in the first place unless they sat and watched you pick mushrooms and then stopped you and asked you what you were doing or caught you red handed with some cubes or pans. Please give us fellow hunters the logistics of the incident.

imposiblefungonaut said: So I thought I'd give a heads up that if you're going on to a nature preserve to hunt, you better not look suspicious(i.e. dreadlocks, long hair, general hippie look) because 3iris9 and I got reported for looking suspicious walking onto preserve, and then arrested.
I mean they were right this time, but generally we are nature loving folk and visit preserves without even looking for mushrooms on a regular basis.
Be careful, friends.
On a side note:
I managed to get pictures of our finds and am trying to upload them as we speak. They will be with you shortly.
I myself am curious. What county of the state were you in? I know OPD and Seminole County pigs can be the piggiest of them all. Most of them, at least. What preserve? Did you have any cubes or pans on you? Just describe to us the whole story so us hunters can be better prepared. Thank you, and I hope you're alright. Good vibes.

Hello, all. I thought it was time to update my data from last year and stir some excitement. My calculations could just show that this year is going to be a bumper crop year; the biggest year since records were started for The Official Florida Mushroom Season Thread. Be safe, get a trusted i.d. when in doubt, and be respectful in the forums and fields.
Take Notice:
One.) The First Significant Finds in relation to average monthly humidity data as-well-as rainfall.
Two.) This year having the highest recorded average humidity for the month of March since TOFMST started in 2009.
Three.) A mild temperature, mid. seventies, mixed with rainfall of five inches or more in March seems to be the magic formula for a substantial spring/summer of Psilocybe cubensis growth.
Four.) The column to the far left of the report is a numbering system for the earliest significant Psilocybe cubensis find.
.......| 2008 TOFMST Data N/A. .....6| 2009 First sig. P. cube. find 05/26 by: rnginn.......... *Rainfall/temp./hum. location of readings available upon request, but in general are from Central Florida. Weather data collected from Wunderground.com.
First Significant P. Cube. Find is the date when P. cube. began being found by multiple people in significant quantities (approximately six or more at a time).
(Consideration for the fact that TOFMST is relatively new leads me to remind those reading this data that there should be given leeway in the suggested findings. That said, the rainfall amounts in March tend to line-up almost tit-for-tat with the First Significant Finds tracking.)
Congratulations to AtlanticWind on back-to-back first sig. finds.
And, for fun, data on the popularity of TOFMST over the years:
year posts thread views 2009 / ..127 - 50,971 2010 / 2486 - 94,335 2011 / 2591 - 83,493 2012 / 2266 - 55,909 2013 / 2432 - 52,083
ALL DATA RELATING TO POSTS AND FINDS ARE SOURCED FROM ONLY THE OFFICIAL FLORIDA MUSHROOM SEASON THREADS UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED.

I wasn't wanting to weigh down the thread just to say thanks, thechosen, but after not seeing any action in here for a couple days I think if I don't throw some words on, it might float away.
I'm glad you enjoyed the data. Now, let's see if its findings hold up where the rubber meets the road.

Crackers are the first real cowboys, FL is the 2nd largest cattle producing state last I checked. Cheers the to the Spanish for bringing us the cubensis in through early cattle drives. Mykes I have been hunting Central East FL since 86'. And still have access to land one of the largest piece of cattleland in the state located in St.Lucie, Indian River, & Brevard and west to YEE HAW, FL It really is that big. Went to school with one of the land owners kids and keep good relations with them. They are out there right as I am typing, its been a good year so far, and not too hot either.
I watched it after first posting and low and behold St. Lucie's own Bud jr. Adams appears. Know this family well, don't trespass on Adams land, not a good idea. Great piece of footage.

Not a well known fact, or at least I don't believe it to be, but The Church of Latter Day Saints (Mormons) owns one percent of Florida, or three hundred thousand acres (as of a year or so ago). They are big into cattle in the Kissimmee area, as well as others I'm sure. I used to be in the agriculture industry and had a meeting at their head Florida branch office where I learned this information.
Seemingly a great documentary, though it froze about thirty minutes in on me.

Wow... I was looking for any reason to go out hunting and it looks like the FL thread is dead. How about it? Any finds out there at all. Esp SW FL Today's finds...

Any of you experts see any potential edibles here? All found in and around Oaks. The bolete is yellow spored.

Agreed. Looks like things are going to change in about a week though; stay tuned.
Edibility, well, I couldn't give you a solid answer on any of the fungi you have pictured, but I will say this: in my experience shelf fungi tend to be rather woody, such as the Ganoderma sp.

Well..... The answer is... After only about 3 hrs and 2 fields (good thing I went to the second after the first was a complete dud) there is defiantly some activity. Even if most of it looks like last week's

Not a bad little haul considering Mother Nature dried all but a couple. So... Get out there and make some discoveries. It's worth your time until things get bwetter!

Cool shots Jondspops. I've noticed the same conditions lately, but it goes to show there is always something to be found at any given time of the year.
