While pasteurizing in jars...

While pasteurizing in jars, is it ok to leave prepared substrate that is unpasteurized in the 5 gallon bucket that it was made in.
Just realized I dont have enough quart jars...
So my plan is -to Pasteurize the qts i can, and after that pasteurize the rest in pint jars.
i dont want to pasteurize the jars together because of different volume sizes.
I know there isnt a ton of nutritional content in verm and coir... but how long can you keep the substrate in the 5 gallon bucket before it "goes bad"...?

People use hydrated coir as reptile pet substrates, It sits in an terrarium unpasteurized for weeks at a time while reptiles shit and piss all over it and nothing ever grows. It's interesting I've never seen mold spontaneously grow on hydrated coir but I have seen mold grow like crazy on vermiculite left out in a garage and it wasn't even that damp. Either way you'll be alright for at least a week

I've never got mold on an indoor bag of verm they all stay very dry in the closet though. It was a bag of verm for some cacti that was in the corner of the garage with the top open that had mold growing all over it. Fucking aloe plant grew so quick over this last summer I had to re-pot it twice. It's HUGE. I would take a picture but I moved it to a friends house for the winter since I don't have enough light in this dinky shit apartment.

I received some nearly 4 foot tall unknown variety barrel cacti the owner had let the base of them rot since he didn't know how to take care of them. There were two small 5-6" pups on the top that I took off those both did well over the summer and nearly doubled in size surprisingly. I took a machete and whacked the bottom of the mother cacti off so it was about 3 feet tall and it recovered and made 3 pups over the summer. Now that one is at a friends house too getting plenty of light. Most of my smaller succulents made flowers this year which isn't something I usually see up here in the northern midwest. Even my jade plant went berserk this last summer.
Haha lightbulbs. I've seen like 4 different dates for the first lightbulb so I just picked 1904 because that was the year of the first tungsten filament "modern" incandescent. Good old USA government. Too bad we couldn't have been this strict with the change to the metric system.
