Bottom Finally In For Silver?
    #19354036 - 01/01/14 09:11 AM (10 years, 1 month ago)

Yesterdays action was fast and furious.  The test under 19 was immediately followed by a 90 cent bounce, and then a drop back to 19.4.  Seems to me it isn't going up anytime soon, with 20 resistance and apparently support at 18.90.  Suspect it will test that support again probably two times more.

Good for you!  I love maples.  $5 and so pure too.

Technically speaking it has a nice look to it given a few months of basing...

Does it look like Gold also is nearing bottom?  I was checking some historical charts and it looks like it fell drastically all through 2013.

Maybe I should just stick my money into my 401k through my work instead, I work for a bank so chances are my money is safer with them.

Given the current gold:silver ratio, I feel silver far exceeds gold in investment potential.  There are other reasons as well fundamentally that tie into this.  So I suspect gold could underperform silver for the foreseeable future.

Depends on your 401k parameters.  My employer matches the first 5% of my contributions and they're tax-deferred.  So for the first 5%, its an approximate 135% profit.  I know of no other investment that comes close to this.

It appears that gold, silver, and the XAU (gold mining shares) are the most oversold on the MACD indicator in 31 years.

http://kingworldnews.com/kingworldnews/KWN_DailyWeb/Entries/2014/1/1_The_Most_Remarkable_News_In_The_Gold_%26_Silver_Markets.html

From a technical perspective, a rebound rally is likely in 2014, but will it be a bear market rally, or will the PM market continue its bull run?

Also, it appears the SP 500 is the most overbought in 33 years, not a good sign for stock bulls.

It's obviously a bear market rally as the metals market is a bear market.  No way to call this a bull market, yet.  No way.  However, bear market rallies/short covering from oversold conditions can be fast and go a longer way than expected.  We shall see.  Resistance at 20 needs to get popped first and hold there for a couple of days as a starter.

Here's a decent chart, let's take a look at silver technicals, shall we?

http://www.kitco.com/charts/techcharts_silver.html

Clearly we are in a bear market.  The 200 day moving average just keeps dropping.

Recent price action is yet another bear flag, in a series of bear flags.  We have been stuck in the flag for a couple plus months now, between 19 and 20.  Both support at 19 and resistance at 20 have held.

From here I would say we could easily test 19 again.  If that level doesn't hold, in other words the bear flag proves to have worked, watch out below.  There's a lot of air under that price level.

Wow... pulling a 20 year chart.  I get it, but economic polices, trader psychology, overall market interest and general trading methods change.  Pulling information off of a 20 year chart is definitely long term.  I've never been big on chasing bottoms.  Except if they're cute

I was referring to the video gman posted to, this video - http://www.superforcesignals.com/video/2014feb6silverweeklyupdate/2014feb6silverweeklyupdate.html

In the video the chart is being pulled from roughly 1980 to 2014.  So I was wrong, its not 20 years, its more like 34

Yeah 34 years may be a bit of a stretch time wise.

The past few days silver has closed above 20.  It has quietly broken that resistance and held there.  This is bullish in the near term.  20 now should become support.  We shall see...

Also, the recent price action has finally taken us above the long term downward channel.  This is also bullish as we were in that channel for several months, so just breaking out even at 20 is at least indication that the carnage may be over.

Until we finally break above the 200 day average, still not an all signals go market.

Hey not bad Lunar, you give the bullish signal after 1 1/2 months, and in one day up over 3%.  Nice call Dude!
