What do you guys think about caffeine?
    #19356163 - 01/01/14 08:36 PM (10 years, 29 days ago)

Good evening,
First off, I have not been able to go and pick shrooms for myself, YET.
It will soon happen, though.

Now, here is what I'm making this thread for:

What do you guys think about caffeine and how it affects your health/mindset?

I am addicted to caffeine. It's not a horrible addiction and luckily it is my only addiction (besides sex, maybe.) But neither of these slight addictions are bad or out of control. Hell, I would hardly label caffeine as one of my addictions if I didn't get big migraines and feel really sick if I don't have a soda after like 24 hours. I only need a soda or two a day and I'm fine, and I don't crash until I start 'withdrawing'. I work out daily. Most of my family has diabetes, though. So when I stop drinking sodas, I feel really tired and have a headache. I'm wondering if this is due to natural low blood pressure or If it is just caffeine leaving my body. Caffeine, on the same account, keeps me motivated when I don't have any buds or haven't done any psychedelics for like a month. At the same time, I hardly ever lucid dream anymore when I drink soda, and on top of that, I think it makes anxiety easier for me to get. I don't know if I should stop or not, yet. I know I should stop drinking soda eventually so I don't get diabetes like my father and grandfather.  But I don't know if I should stop soon. Here is a list of pros and cons to my caffeine 'addiction'

PROS
-----
-Attributes to my Happiness
-Helps keep me Motivated
-Wakes me up in the morning/helps me stay up during long nights

CONS
---------
-Worsens anxiety (when life has it's stressful moments, much like when people try to smoke a cigarette to calm down when they are breaking down, which only worsens their emotions.)
-Really hard to lucid dream/remember dreams at all :frown:
-Migraine and lack of energy after ~24 hours without caffeine.

What do you guys think of caffeine? Should I stop? Is it worth it? What drinks would you recommend to replace my sodas? I enjoy sweet teas and teas like red tea. Dislike lemon teas. Would rather not drink sleepytime and black tea.
Does caffeine affect your ability to remember your dreams or dream lucidly? If not, how do you go about lucid dreaming?
I don't know to stop or not. I miss lucid dreaming, but I'm afraid I'll lose my extra motivation, which I cannot afford. Afterall, motivation in life is what makes us rich, famous, and understand the universe better. Smoking keeps me motivated for a few days, and LSD (better than sliced bread) keeps me motivated and happy for like a month. However, I can't always smoke due to my job and I rarely stumble upon lucy.

All help is appreciated.
Happy New Years!

I enjoy caffeine.
I think it's a great psychoactive drug

Does caffeine really heighten anxiety in situations that inhibit anxiety?  Makes perfect sense but never dawned on me..

I avoid it. I find it amusing our society runs on a perpetual stimulant binge but still judges those who prefer other types of drugs. Call it mild, but since I never drink caffeine, if I drink a whole coffee I tweak the fuck out and even need to sometimes take a xanny im so wired and panicky.

Almost all teas come in decaf, and there are caffeine free teas like ginger tea. Fruit juices, or just plain old water are other options.

I love a waking up to strong coffee!

OH fuck yes. Perhaps with a cigarette too? I mean I don't have those nasty little things often but man, that's made my morning right there. Life's about balance, I think caffeine addictions are not good, but ime they're easy to stop and not exactly very physically addictive.

I drink a coffee or 2 each day plus a tea or 2 and I can go camping for 5 days, consume no caffeine, and feel absolutely no withdrawl symptoms.

Caffeine and meditation gives nice cevs and sometimes oevs...  never getting tolerance on it though... that ruins it big time..

Its just a pretty shitty stimulant. I cycle caffeine with amphetamine, honestly I feel much better when I replace a couple cups of coffee with 8-16mg of amphetamine. I sleep better, I feel more mentally alert, and I don't get a headache from the constant come up and come down of caffeine. Nowadays if I take caffeine I take it slowly during the day like an extended release.

That's a curious thing to do. Just straight up amphetamine powder or are you talking about pharmaceutical amphetamines? I've dabbled in both a bit and I enjoy amphetamines greatly but I always grind my teeth, which is strange because I hardly grind my teeth when I take MDMA on occasion. I'm wondering if this would be even less healthy than caffeine in the long run though, too.

I find it really difficult to meditate sober/just on caffeine. I have no idea why.

What does ginger tea taste like? Ginger ale-ish?

Pharmaceutical. What worked really well for me last year and this year (although I haven't been doing things on a schedule this year) was 2-4 says a week of amphetamine and the rest caffeine, but I always took 1 day a week off. I have tried other cycles like caffeine for a couple weeks then amphetamine for a couple weeks and that is no where near as good and I actually hate doing that because I ended up feeling pretty worn out.

Tea; Camelia Sinensis

thing otherwise labeled tea; hot water extract.

Yeah. I have the same but...no benzos either. It's a euphoricish high, fine once in a while. Stims(chronic use) suck though. Imagine your sober skill is your base skill level and your wired skill just adds to your base skill.

Today reminded me of one quality I really like about caffeine, its synergy with amphetamine. I decided to do a whole lot of studying today and still am, I'm just taking a break. 1 strong cup of coffee really amps up a light amount of amphetamine.

I used to take my friend's adderall back in high school because he didn't like taking it but his parents made him, so he just gave them to me instead. I'd take 30mg IR and drink a giant (44 oz) coca-cola on my way to school in the morning and be tweaking and submerged in euphoria right until about 3rd period. After some crashes at 11 A.M I decided to take XRs instead when he was prescribed them due to poor grades (lol). But yes; caffeine and amps mix really well, I just get jittery.

As an energy drink abuser for the last several years, I have to say I hate the negative effects of caffeine overall. I didn't realize the anxiety it was giving me until I stopped.

I don't drink coffee or energy drinks anymore, but I do drink tea alot. Tea is great and it's been shown that L-theanine combined with caffeine reduces some of the negative effects of caffeine like anxiety and so forth. So I recommend drinking tea if you want a slightly better form of caffeine.

it is a bit gross to talk about, but coffee in the form of enemas has been helpful for me when aiding the recovery of my liver, and also helpful in reducing physical pain.

but as an alternative to drinking it, i have had a good experience with a type of tea called yerba mate. although some experts who know more about the stuff claim that it can increase the chance of developing certain kinds of cancer if it is drank in excess.

Yerba mate.. that is sacrificial.. cancers come because the spirits are displeased.

interesting... i didn't know that it had a history as a sacrificial herb. i only know about it because a tea store near my house sells the stuff, while touting its benefits of course, so perhaps they forgot any historical roots in exchange for profiteering.

Yerba mate is to be drunk out of a carved wooden gourd. It is drunk with a spechial straw and prepared in strict ways. (Originally very ritualistic indeed). Yerba mate is often shared.. it is flavoured differently to each occation.. it may also be drunk alone, to gather strenght, or together to share affection, friendship, lust, love or as a marriage rite when sweetened with honey..

it is something done rarely in big doses.. first you add the gourd 1/4 full with yerba mate, about four or five tablespoons.. you then add a little cold water, put your hand on top as a lid, and turnnit upside down and back ten times.  You usually say your blessing during this.. then the partizipants will be served the excess bitter water which should be a tablespoon each, and take a bonski.. then boiling water is added to fill it 3/4 to the top, and the sweetener is added. One puts in the straw and starts drinking after saying eachs blessing.

--------------------
And thus begins the  reverse-fusing of our one-dimentional understanding, and adds ever-expanding perspectives, in depth and number; splitting our perception, and in so doing, seemingly irrationally, creates yet more one-ness, with all that ever was, is and will ever be, streching across the infinite, inunderstood concept of everything, percievable and not.

This intrigues me enough to the point where I'm definitely going to try this spiritually next time I take lsd. I will try it normally in a few days, perhaps. Thanks for sharing.

I drink coffee 1-2 times per week.  As with any other stimulant I find the negatives do come with daily use.  Some claim otherwise but I'm willing to bet they just can't see it because it's become the norm.
