Good Christian Music
    #19354185 - 01/01/14 10:15 AM (10 years, 1 month ago)

Very difficult imo but it seems I've crossed path with some.

Actually purchased the CD. A first.  Thought some of you Christians out there might enjoy this and may not have heard of them.

The band is  mewithoutYou

This CD is it's all crazy! it's all false! it's all a dream! it's alright

Enjoy.

99.9999999999999999999999999% of christian music is pure and utter garbage, but there are a couple of gems out there.

I like a lot of mewithoutyou, they remind me of Bright Eyes a little bit.

Josh Garrels is another christian musician that is good, I think I have only come across one song by him that I didn't like. He's got a bluesy-folky type fusion going on with a touch of hip-hop in the mix sometimes. We liked him enough to donate $5 to some fund raiser he put on a few years ago, and then when he came out with his newest album he sent us a free copy with a hand written note personally addressed to us thanking us for our donation, which I thought was pretty cool.

This one is a pretty fair representation of what many of his songs are like:

I find that ben harper song.... power of the gospel, on the live from mars album haunting and beautiful

i like this song by St. Vincent - Jesus Saves, I spend... I suppose it's not so Christian, but here it is

Everything is better than it was the last time.  I'm good.

If we could look into each others hearts, and understand the unique challenges each of us faces, I think we would treat each other much more gently, with more love, patience, tolerance, and care.

It takes a lot of courage to go out there and radiate your essence.

I know you scared, you should ask us if we scared too.  If you was there, and we just knew you cared too.

Anything by Mumford And Sons I think has a Christian undertone but I guess can also just be mystical

Great band though

dunno your gender, but i was a fan of Sixpence None the Richer in the past. not all of their stuff is religious, though. but it is clean, honest, and the guitarist has great rhythm particularly in their old albums.

I never understood the prospect of christian music because its musical structure, notes used and count of beats are that of what is typical and common in western music, its just the lyrics that define it never the music.

None the less here is one of the better Christian bands IMO exercising much more subtlety in their lyricism rather than the usual glory glory Jesus tripe.
