Hi guys,
I have been lurking shroomery.org for years and I have finally decided to go shroom hunting and post the results here!
Here it is:
Habitat: Grows on a log inside of a forest in Northern California. The log is dead and I know this because it has fallen off its tree. Altitude is about 50m above sea level. The forest has lots of green leaves as you can see in the background.
Gills: Has an orange-ish color. See picture.
Stem: This is a fairly FAT shroom. The leaf right below the shroom is about half the size of a 25¢ quarter. Awkwardly, the gills are a part of the stem.
Cap: The cap is pure white with some very light orange bruises.
Spore print color: IDK! Sorry!
Bruising: Orange-ish color
The Shroom:

There is a possibility of Pleurotus species. A spore print would help. Some measurements too. Possibly Pleurotus oysterus or P. eryngii. Where there any greenish or blue hints to it? Did it smell acrid? It could possibly be Panellus serotinis, but I doubt the latter. I could be wrong in all accounts. Somebody else will probably be able to assist further.
Please don't consume any mushroom before it is properly identified.
