Almost effed up my glove box, but here it is anyways

I had to cut the damn thing using a razor blade and pocket knife, not fun. I completely messed up the right right side because i didn't score deep enough and when I was using the serrated part of my knife it cut straight instead of following the score. Nonetheless I managed to salvage it with a shit ton of adhesive I would've scrapped the whole thing but it's such a pain in the ass to cut the holes out (especially on my budget) that I didn't want to go through it again, I managed to get the method down and the left side came out well, needless to say my next glovebox will be designed much better, when that time comes. And I don't have a filtered hole for air to go through, I didn't use one back in 2006 during my first grow so I figured I might as well stick to what I know, I just spray some air sanitizer in there and come back an hour later and everything is ready to go, never had a mutant, a contam, and most importantly and explosion from flame sterilization, I figured someone would ask that. On to the pics
There are two quart jars in there for size reference

Look at all that silicone you can see where the knife cut straight

Closer look at the fuck up

Here's my hand in the box, just wanted to make sure I can touch all corners

Like I said earlier, it's very amateurish but it'll get the job done until I'm no longer ballin' on a budget and can afford to make a proper one! Any questions are welcome!

You're good. No worries. This was mine:

Though it's a still air box. Not a glovebox technically. I've done 'hella awkward g2g' in it twice with no contamination.

HelloEvo, nice box.....now I suggest removing the gloves.
A SAB (Still Air Box) without gloves attached is better for this hobby than a GB(Glove Box).
It makes it easier to flame sterilize OUTSIDE the box between jars/plates.
Also when you attach the gloves to the box, every time you move your arms air will get sucked in and out of the imperfect lid.....negating the "still air" environment.

That makes a lot of sense, my only worry is that back in '06 I had done that (just dryer vents no gloves) and got contams, not due to design, but due to my location...it's REALLY dusty where I am, I'll dust the top of my TV and within half an hour there's already a thin layer on there, it's bad, and I live in a studio so there isn't really anywhere I can run to. That's why I decided to go with the gloves, I'm gonna probably end up putting a layer (or two, until I have to force the latch shut) of 3M foam tape between the lid and tub, even though it won't be perfect it'll hopefully cut the air by 20-30%...If I do get a contam I'll take the gloves off and give that a try like you said. Thanks for the tip though I appreciate it
and elasticaltiger, whatever works right?

It was actually most likely due to your improper sterile technique.....but I digress......

I work in a dusty ass bedroom with 20 year old carpet.....as soon as I dust off my surfaces dust immediately collects back.
I can't even really stand leaving broken up weed out on my desk for an hour because of all the shit that possibly could have landed on/in it....then I pack it and smoke it.....ewww......I still have great success.....because ALL of my sterile work is done in still air....making everything else around me irrelevant.....there is no dust blowing around in my SAB....and I keep it that way.

I can only lead a horse to water........ how do you plan on flame sterilizing your tools between jars?
Remember flames produce heat currents, and heat currents inside a still air box kinda defeats the purpose......

It shouldn't matter how much dust is in the air. Still air is still air. Turn off all fans. Close the windows. Spray the inside of the box with lightly soapy water. Putt everything into position. Wait 10 - 30 minutes. Leave the room during that time. The dust inside the box will settle to the ground leaving the air in the top 3/4 of space relatively free of contamination. This works in all environments even moldy carpet covered floors with multiple animals in the house.

I will give it a try without the gloves once the spores get in and everything's ready. I used to just flame sterilize in the glove box with no problems but it seems now that it's a dated practice. I always have a hard time converting to methods I haven't used but I'll give it a try, man things were so different 7 years ago it's crazy lol It's almost like re-learning how to do everything...So just to clarify, you guys take the syringe out of the SAB to flame sterilize and then put it back in after sterilization to inoculate between each jar?

What NAH says, ye should believe.
This is my shitty ghetto ass SAB: (using NAH's upside-down on a moist towel idea)

Wait an hour for everything to become still, and I rarely, if ever, have a problem. No gloves, no PVC piping siliconed in, none of that stuff. Just half circles cut with a jigsaw. Simple. Easy. Effective. And very easy to work in since my elbows rest on the floor (yes, I work on the floor, where ALL the contams are) and the holes are wider than shoulder width apart.

Yes....allowing time for the air to settle before going back to work.

Forrester, I haven't read the moist towel method (like I said I'm an old schooler trying to learn all the new tricks) but I'm assuming the purpose of it is to attract all the falling stuff and make it "stick" to the towel?

Yep, them's the pics!
Found those very helpful when developing my method. I don't do any G2G though so I find it easier to be able to rest my elbows while I work. That, and I was too lazy to find whatever those plastic circle things with screw caps are and silicon them in

Yep, you got it buddy NAH taught me that theory. Seems to be quite effective.
