Both? what stages are you referring to?  Incubation, casing colonization, pinning, fruiting?  Well, doesn't matter too much, you only want light to initiate pinning and then to keep the mushies from growing all retarded.  Other than this you don't need light, athough light does not really hurt in any stage.  Some people will say "OMG don't give them light during colonization!!!" but they are wrong :smile:

Actually if you expose your colonizing substrate to light constantly it will most likely start fruiting right there in their containers.
