I did the brf tek and as it said left the mix light and airey, just dropped it in by hand and other than smoothing out the top did not pack it any.  Started colonizing and some of the jars I noticed the myc was starting to pull in from the sides of the jar, I didnt think about it, but now the dry verm layer is starting to fall down the sides of some of the jars and im worried about contams if it does any more.

So im guessing now I should have packed them somewhat maybe....

it happens sometimes.  if that is ur only layer of protection maybe put something on top like a rubber banded coffee filter, won't do much, but at least some dust will be prevented from landing on it and possible falling in.  it does nothing for spore/bacteria...so its not that helpful but it may put ur mind at ease.  anything breathable, maybe even micropore (check CVS in band aid aisle (NEXCARE Gentle Paper Tape.  packaging looks like a roll of scotch tape but u will immediately see the difference in material of actual tape.)

Are they done colonizing? It's normal for that to happen after full colonization when the cake starts to contract.
