Stupid question?

Hey so I took home some galerina mushrooms complete with fully colonised wood substrate and I was wondering if, by simply placing this in a terrarium, I could continue to grow these mushrooms, or if the high temperature difference would simply kill them. Could I do the same with other saphrophytic species which I find interesting? Cheers.

i don't know anybody who would cultivate galerina....hmmmm but i think i remember reading them to be a mycorrhizzae species that need certain microbes to grow. i'll try find that article for ya but in the meantime dump it in a tub and add a thin casing layer

i can't find it but i'm sure the most of that genus is considered mycorrhizzal and needs to be done outdoors or something, maybe if the wood you took was already established outside you could see a few fruits indoors but i'm sure contams would followQuote:

I have, but I live in the UK and I struggle to find spores for sale without them being imported through customs, which I'm a little nervous about because the last few packages I have ordered overseas (Musc and a pipe) have been tampered with, the muscaria actually arrived in a new bag with an apology from Royal Mail saying that they had to open it!

I am only ever able to find spores for active and gourmet mushrooms, hence why I'm sort of limited to "abducting" species that I find around my area :-(

You mean mycorrhizal species ...and they form symbiotic relationships with plants...A tree for instance can have multiple fungal partners as there are a couple different types mychorrizal fungi..one is ectomycorrhizal which colonizes the roots of the plant, it acts as an interface between the roots of the plant and the nutrients in the soil..the next is endophytic...these fungi colonize the vegetative body of the plant, moving between the cell walls and forming another mutually beneficial relationship rendering the plant more resistant to rot and disease and insect pests..
