WTF? Why so high? You don't look out of shape. My resting heart rate sitting around is in the low 40s and when I wake up in the morning it will dip below 40. I'm not that fit.

I'm the same way, heart rate never drops below 65 even when asleep, typically above 90 when awake

I tried it. I don't like a paleo diet void of complex carbohydrates. My issue with it was created when I heard a NSCA lecture. apparently when we lack sugar our body does not retain water as well and so you will see some kind of weight loss due to inhibited water retention. And then again, when you start eating carbohydrates again, you will gain the water weight back on. Could you just drink more water? I don't know. I need to look into it more.
It's debatable whether the diet is effective.
Make sure not to approach diets like they are a fad. If you lose 20 lbs on a diet and then return to your normal eating habits you will most likely gain that weight back. But if you incorporate a permanent moderate exercise routine into your life you will gain less weight back when you quit the diet. Or so I read.
I like the paleo diet if it is complimented with complex carbohydrates like rice, potatoes, or pasta. This diet made me feel very healthy and alert. Also, drink lots of water!
