I got a random bag of these from a farmer today. He says he doesnt know what they are but he eats them all the time. Thats not weird.

Lol Im unsure of their secies but I dont think its an oyster.
He didnt say where he got them he just handed them to me and said to take them. Ill use my room mates iphone to get a nice set of photos of these specimens once he gets back.

If you look on the bottom of the left one. That brown spot is a cap growing off it.

Those look like beat up king oysters you can find in a grocery store.

absolutely king oysters, it is pretty common for them to have pins at the base.

Oysters (Pleurotus ostreatus) and king oysters (Pleurotus eryngii) are very different mushrooms, in both growing parameters and culinary characteristics. King oysters are great eating, very firm consistency, pleasant, mild taste, and are easy to grow in woodchip patches outside or sawdust blocks inside. Clone them, you won't regret it!

I wouldve cloned it but I already got a slammin culture from someone already. Its actually about to go to grains in a day or so.
