couldnt wait any longer and read up on some blue fuzz, someone said to put a damp qtip to it and if it the color bled onto the qtip it was mold, but it didnt just peices of it barley came on the qtip others said it usually ended up being contamination.... but my myc is pinning? is this okay?
so i went and scooped it out. - should i mist that area with h2o2? and water every so often after that?

Its pinning because you put it into fruiting conditions before it was fully colonized. Use more spawn next time to decrease time on colonizing=less chance of contaminants, and let it reach 100% before you open the lid or give it fresh air.
It did look like a contamination, and if that is the case then it's probably already spread to the whole tub since that's how contams like trich work anyway. Probably best if you hadn't scooped anything out because now the entire side is exposed and ready for more contams to move in.
What you could do is fill it in with a non nutritous casing layer type sub and hope the rest of it fruits out before the thing sporulates with nasties.
Best of luck!

fill it in with vermiculite. Nothing grows on verm and it will protect the exposed sub. And yes. If you get a contam dont bother trying to remove it. By the time you see it in your tub its already spread throught.
This was that whole top layer of sub thing taking too long that I pointed out earlier. Im so sorry dude. Same way I learned my lesson.
Keep fruiting though, youll atleast get something out of it lol. I didnt get nada.

Research rez effect.
Verm is not inert, it contains trace minerals.
Furthermore BRF cakes are 2/3 verm.....mycellium grows on it just fine.

This is flat-out wrong. Check your facts before posting opinion based on limited knowledge as fact.
Fungi evolved before plants. Exactly what do you think they were feeding on besides solid rock with energy supplied from the sun?
Every noob who has ever grown brf cakes through a few flushes has watched them shrink by 50% or more. Since they're 2/3 vermiculite, exactly what do you think is being consumed if it's not the minerals?
If as you(wrongly) assume that fungi isn't digesting rock, exactly why do growers report increased benefits such as vigor and harvest weight from using vermiculite, calcium carbonate, and gypsum? RR

Ah ok. SOrry I thought it was inert, I thought that the mycellium just grew over it in brf cakes. So why is it used as a contamination barrier then?
