4k home theater projector

Been reaaally wanting one of these. I've never seen 4k in person, but I've seen how good it is on my laptop and of course that's not even true 4k display. I actually just recently bought an Epson 5030ub which looks really great and all, but it still wouldn't even compare for a theater type set up. I never watch TV but if I'm at home with time on my hands I'm likely playing video games or watching torrented movies/shows though and I'm never really fully satisfied in the quality of the picture with my TVs or projectors knowing there's better shit out there now.
But the thing is, this thing is expensive as fuck.. as in 15 grand. I can't help but think I'm crazy for considering this amount, I've just been wanting something I could have as a really nice 150 inch or so set up inside and a decent 250+ inch for outside on a makeshift screen or something for when I have people over and we wanna play some games or watch some movies outside.
So just wondering if anyone's ever seen anything in 4k and had any input on it? Do you think it's way too much? I'll most likely end up selling the epson if I choose to get it, maybe I'll put it on the marketplace or something if anyone who reads this is interested.

I saw a Sony 4k TV while in Japan. It was very nice
The crazy part is that there are disc formats capable of storing a 4k quality movie, and a lack of available content in general. Sony was offering an external hard drive with a handful of 4k movies pre-loaded to come with the TV.
Personally, I'm holding off until the price goes WAY down, and more content is available. It makes no sense to me to have a tv that can only play several movies to its fullest potential.

This is the model I've been lookin at. The bundle comes with a 4k media player that's going to have 4k movie and TV streaming on it soon, but it still makes 1080p movies and games look higher res now while running at 60fps.
You couldn't see any pixels on it at all right? How big was the screen?

It was an 84" beast that costs over 20k, but they would throw in the media player for free so it is not that bad of a deal, right?
They had smaller TVs for less, but still more than I would want to pay considering how infrequently I watch television/movies.
A 4k laptop I would buy tomorrow if available
That projector looks very nice. Worthy of building an in-home theater with stadium seating for.

I've seen numerous sets in and around local stores. Frankly, I'm not impressed. The only advantage of 4k is that you maintain image quality while sitting unrealistically close to the set (e.g., 2 ft from a 65" screen).
At the moment, there is very little (if any) 4k content. Upscaling lower resolution images to 4k is pointless IMO. The increase in quality is marginal at best.
You are correct in that to appreciate the benefits of 4k, you'll probably need to be in the sizes you're looking for (e.g., over 120"). I love home theater and will make the jump eventually, but until there is actual content available, I'm holding off. I think its way overkill at this point, but that's just my opinion.
Some other food for thought:

Yeahh you're right. I guess I was just excited since I've been wanting a screen that had the best contrast and picture for a while, especially since my room mate's got a gaming PC that supports 3k that I could connect it to. I'll see where things go in the next few months or so. I might as well since OLED is getting to be a thing now. A 4k OLED laser projector sounds in-fucking-sane
