when you use the honey water tek, do you not sterlize it?

why on earth are you using honey water.. its very difficult to sterilize because it has TONS of pollen in it and other stuff from the beez....------------------ To see the light is not enough.. brainnoise

brainnoise.....you're right when you say honey carry a lot of spores......but, with 40 min of sterilization time in pressure cooker you're fine......i never got a jar contaminated with fresh made honey water....think bout this.....

the myc. does acq. a yellowish tint from the honey water, no harm. chunks are also normal. honey is naturally resistant to contams, ever seen mold grow on honey ??

One reason honey is resistant to contaminants is that it only contains a few% water-nothing can grow.The same applies to malt extract,molasses,maple syrup,whatever.This is not the case with honey water.... (yes,I know it's sposed to contain "natural antibiotics" too...)

Honey doesn't spoil because it is mostly sugar which is a preservative. However, when you mix honey with water you have a perfect nutrient broth for breeding all kinds of microorganisms.------------------ He who controls the spice, controls the universe....
