got g2g going down here shortly. so to change the topic a bit my oyster growing on cardboard and coffee is growing all over the plastic container to get nutes from condensation.
Im thinking of g2g'ing some myc off the lid into some wbs. In Oder to get glc. I'll expand the oyster to some cardboard and maybe newspapers. Need alot of it to spawn in my raised beds..

So I did a transfer of oyster myc off the top of my plastic container to a minimally filled container of WBS. Its starting to recover.
So once again going against the grain of the mainstream way of doing things here worked in my favor!

so after close inspection four of my mini rounds in this pic-(the ones in the tub) are pretty much at 80-90% done probably going to just spawn all of t hem to a mini tub with a inch of sub.
that tub is the same kind I use for FC dub tub style.

Ya those blue tubs in the background only hold six quarts filled to the top.. I've done a shallow depth before. And got decent results.. Its just extra spawn.

cool. so u gonna put an inch of sub plus the grains, or everything together will be 1 inch? I'm sure if u line it, it will be ok. i would case it too, with either pasteurized peat of late case it with sterile coir. coir probably easier, and seems to be working really well for ppl if used as a late casing.

I've never tried casing before I might.. IDK. so my questions are as follows. Before I used the Damion tek I know that's frowned upon to just do that now. but a while back in one of my older post I asked what do you do with all the extra substrate that you don't use. well I left it in the same 5 gallon bucket I made it in, and placed the whole bucket in the fridge. The funny thing is I even used it months later with no issues at all. I'm planning on doing that again, just with zip-lock steam pasteurized method for (coir, verm, gypsum, coffee, mix).
Could I in theory just leave it in the zip-lock bags? and obviously if I were to use it later down the line I would re steam.

from what i understand, if u sterilize the coir/verm, u can keep it pretty long, as long as the container it was done it was not opened. for pasteurizing, if there is coffee in it, i would only go like 3 days MAX. i did five days once, but i will never do it again. it has not con tamed (yet) but i just put it into fruiting. i wouldn't want to waste all that. with pasteurized coir/verm it will probably be fine for a while. but i may be wrong. as far as that bucket goes, pasty had mentioned he did a bucket tek (no coffee) and it did not contam over the course of several months, so I'm sure u are ok. tho i do not know if he did the bucket tek, used some, then replaced lid, or just did the tek and never opened after that. i plan on using sterilized coir/verm now that i have done it a few times, i really like it a lot, and i means that u can have a day where u just sterilize the sub in bags or jars to use later whenever u want, which is nice. i have a grain prep day that i prep grains jars to use for the following weeks, now i can do that with sub! i still will use coffee occasionally, but u can just pasteurize that as needed i bet. i have only cased with peat/verm and only added coir to it once, at about 10% of the mix. i will try plain coir casing within the next 2 days. casing is awesome man, try it on one of ur projects, u will not be disappointed. with monos cased, u can definitely leave the top two holes open, no poly, for greater FAE and no risk to drying of the substrate. the fruits will love it.

ya I might only add coffe to like on bag at pasteurization and the rest verm and coir plus a pinch of gypsum.
