I don't think Tricholoma magnivelare grows down here. What does 12 smell like FloridaMaster?

1) Did you taste a tiny piece and spit it out?
2) How do you differentiate between purple Corts?
3) what does the cap look like? The stem base?
6) Hydnum repandum is likely
7) maybe Galerina, but not G. marginata. Stipe and cap both look wrong. Did you take a spore print? Did they have rings on the stem?
12) Agree with your assessment

I'm not a great fan of mushrooms either. But a user was kind enough to send me some dried morels and wow are they good. About the purple Corts, I just know that there are a good number of them with some overlap in distribution. To distinguish among some of the slimy-capped purple Corts you may even have to taste the slime to see if it's bitter! Haha. In the future for Amanita, it is very important to show the cap, stem, and probably most importantly the base of the stem carefully excavated. The reason I asked about yours is because the annulus looks a bit complex and the cap margin looks appendiculate which is uncharacteristic of Amanita bisporigera. Could just be the photo though, I don't doubt your experience.

That species does sometimes grow with pine in Florida.

That would be sweet! I would love to find it. I wonder if they were misidentified? Though I suppose the smell is almost unmistakable. The only pine around me has been planted slash pine. Gotta find some old forest!
