Stalled monotub help!!!
    #19347246 - 12/30/13 04:46 PM (10 years, 1 month ago)

Yo!
So I have this really big monotub that stalled to what I can assume to be lack of GE.It is mostly colonized, but still really spotty. I replaced 3/20 of the holes that were taped with cotton. I left it for 2 some days. In this time, it started fruiting. They're only tiny aborts, but one of them turned black almost instantly. What should I do to ensure that I can still get the biggest flush possible? What can I do to my other tub that has the same problem but hasn't fruited yet?
Thanks.

ok i thought thats wut you meant but hoped not, that would be alot of holes:crazy:
should have used a liner as well i'd be expecting side/bottom pins you may have fruited a little early but not much you can do now

let your other tub colonize fully, the imperfect lid will provide all the ge needed and as for that one......the risk is up to you but if its pinning i would start blasting it with fresh air and start stuffing holes...but i don't know much about dealing with 20 of them you crazy girl you

There is a liner, but the picture shows a part where it wasn't covered very well. Yeah 20 is a LOT of holes, but look at the parameters of the tub, it's fairly large. Yeah, I was hoping to not have to start fruiting, but I might have to because of the aborts that turned black so quickly. Rather get some than none at all.

it's still possible to get a good yield even with early fruiting. Just give it lots of fresh air to keep mold from popping up on un colonized areas of your sub. Mushrooms thrive in fresh moving air, mold dose not.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Think an overhead fan will work, 12/12? or even 24/7?

24/7  not pointed at your tub, watch for nice beads of moisture across your surface lots of condensation on the walls and a dry ring around your polly, any of that doesn't fir adjust your polly

24/7... Try to not have it blow right on the tub, but rather just enough to move air out and keep from becoming stagnent. I use the ceiling fan with my tub in the corner which moves the air plenty without 'blowing' directly on the sub... gl
