OMSI in Portland. Last time we went they had the bodyworlds exhibit which was the coolest thing I've ever seen in person.

A lot of your photos could use color correction because in the real world, the sensor does not expose perfectly all the time.
What you need to do is load them into the gimp, go to the color levels, and select each of the three color channels. Adjust both the high and low end of each three until the pic looks best.

maynard, wherever you found the Urnula padeniana you should look for truffles! you dont even need a rake. just lift the duff around rodent holes and play around in the dirt with a gloved hand.

On the front end, he could set his camera to "cloudy" white balance which is what I do if the photos are too blue/cool which often happens in the woods. Getting true (or near true) color is one of the big steps to taking good diagnostic mushroom photos.
1) Focus 2) Lighting 3) Depth of field 4) Color accuracy
Dial in those four things and your photos will be consistently solid.

We were! Only came up with one little truffle. It seems as though it's pretty dry for this time of year. Like a 25 inch rain deficient kind of dry.
