Pasteurizing/sterilizing for double end casing?

Hey again, Got Pf cakes that I wanna double end case. Never done this before, usually put a small pile of verm on top of cake and that's it. Something tells me I can get more out of my cakes, so I wanna try this before moving on to crumbling and casing. It looks like a inverted jar lid filled with damp vermiculite does the trick. Now I don't sterilize or pasteurize the verm I'd use to roll the cake or the little on the top, but I wonder if an amount this large (about a 1/3 of a Cup) will harbor/attract more contams by not doing so? It seems like most people, myself included, steam treat casing materials for bulk growing, so I'm curious. Thanks!

don't bother moving onto crumbling and casing thats a backwards step, you certainly can double end case it but i've honestly never sen a whole lot of improvement from it and ran into a problem with the myc trying to colonize the verm on bottom so i just simply dunk and roll and hydrate when needed...sorry val i gave you five minutes

Right on Cronicr. Some of these are on their second flush, the pins/fruits look shitty (dark/off color, spindly, things!); so this is more of an experiment at this point. I just see pictures of people with awesome looking cakes and a lot of them DEC, gettin jealous! Nah man yer right, I can afford to move quickly into grains again; I have the time/money (not really though), and spores to lose at this point. WBS here I comes!

just keep in mind that the most important humidity is coming off your cake as the moisture from your misting/fanning evaporates so mist when the surface starts to dry up
