To be or not to be San Pedro?

hey peoples my friends are saying they own a massive san pedro cactus plant growing on their yards. Hes offerring to sell me 1 foot for $20, but im not sure if these are even san pedro.. Sorry for the bad quality picture. Any help would be appreciated

the first one seems like it to me but theres the black spots on where the spines/needles are. Not sure if this is considered "Weep rot" or if it signifies another type of cactus. The second one you cant really see clearly as it was too sunny.. but there does seem to have been cuttings taken from it (which is why im considering it to be san pedro) but im not sure if my friend just ripped people off... so please, any help would be appreciated!

Is this the "PC-Pachanoi"?
Skin coloration and pronounced ribs at aeroles seems similar to PC-Pachanoi I have seen in many pictures and reported to be inactive. Maybe someone can confirm this is that predominant cultivar clone? ..I can't say for sure because this clone is very rare in EU.
Trichocereus Pachanoi it is for sure.. I just remembered one thing happened there in EG: Some person have posted picture from similar t. pachanoi and reported the plant was inactive and said people in this forum have been ID cactus wrong because that person doesn't got any experience out of the plant.
However, it's very nice clone and relatively cheap price if you want to grow it as ornamental. But for that price you said I would try to get best looking branches from the plant.
Very healthy and big san pedro but I think if you probably want to consume some, this clone is not for that purpose.. Anyway, from picture is hard to say do cactus contains anything magical or not. For me it seems like it's PC-Pachanoi.. But those who really know that PC-Pachanoi would confirm this. But I want to make sure one thing, even trichcoereus is not always active, it doesn't mean it's not trichocereus.. For example: one ID request happened there some time ago and later thread starter said people there have been mistaken at ID of plant because cactus was not active.
Active or not, your pictures are good and they're good example of giant san pedro plant.

hey peeps met with another friend who said his was legit and even offered me a free sample. thing is i dont feel like cooking a bunk cactus, my concerns are: the aeroels? and spines are black... i read that theyre supposed to be white. And the 2nd cacti he gave me has thread-like string.. Apparently the PC san pedros develop string/hair like material, while the regular san pedros just develop puffballs?
so for all of you cacti heads, can you please help identify these 2 cacti? Thank you!

T. Pachanoi vary considerably in alkaloid content from plant to plant, even in different seasons. So the only real way to know is to try it yourself. So cook it, eat it, see what happens. Offering you a free sample seems like he's pretty confident its legit. Try it out, report back.

They are both pc pedro since your in US.(In AU there are some that appear to be PC but are not)
There is also a lack of v notches over the areolas. Some PC pedros are 'quite' active although it is not comparable to non-pc. In the US PC pedros are the norm so unless you are willing to search for a while or grow from seed your stuck with PC so just stick with bridgesii for dependability (there are rare cases of inactive bridgesii). Non-PC Pedros also have dark haired flower buds rather than the white fur common with PC pedros.

Ive had san pedros that were considered "real san pedro" and "PC san pedro". obviously the "real san pedro" was a clone due to the fact that it was not from Peru or the main origin of the san pedro cactus.. yet people are still able to distinguish a "real SP" from a "PC clone SP". so anyone else?

CuriousGG you have been pointed towards the rules on several occasions. Here they are for the last time. EG rules

Hey everyone,
I recently read up on San Pedros and I seemed to have forgotten one thing I had heard.
The darker the San Pedro, is that bad? Or is it the bright green ones are bad?
anyone know?

Older growth will tend to be darker, and fresher growth coming through lighter. But the overall depth of colour will be determined by nutrient levels and growing conditions, which will vary with every grower. And of course minor genetic differences if seed raised.

I have seen sometimes when plant have spent excess amount of time in sun, skin is rather very pale when sun goes down.. This happens to all cacti. Later on old growth skin is pale. Anyway, for example 2 season old section is more darker in skin compared to new growth.
I have not find out or seen much of a different with mescaline content of plant does the tissue have been attached to actual mother plant or spent one season as cutting.
I don't know is this a fact of not but I have understand some peeps will keep their plants as cutting long time before they are consumed. Some people take older parts of the plant and consume them. Some have advice to take young top cutting from plant.
Anyway my point is to compare two kind of "same" plants: -one section spent 8months as cutting -one section from same plant spent it's time 8months attached to mother plant.
Do these potency vary or not?
Because of cuttings are as well living as stems attached to mother plant, they should basically increase the potency over time. If person cut 1year old growth from big plant and put it to dark closet over one season. Is that cutting equal 2 season old stem in potency?
Cuttings are still living plants and metabolism should keep on going tho..
Anyway, I don't care much of potency of plant, they are what they are.. But what I can think about cutting, I think it as a living plant and if you keep cutting over one season in dark closet it's older then, and do older tissue contains more mescaline due to metabolism of plant because metabolism doesn't stop when you cut the stem of plant..
By keeping cuttings without growing them for months before ingestion, there should be some reason why some peeps do this, maybe potency increase over the time no matter do plant have roots or not.
I don't know for sure, just wanted to think about this because some people really keep their plants in dark and cool almost one year before they ingest them, I can't analyze myself do potency really increase over the time but somehow it makes sense because cutting is getting older and because cuttings doesn't die for months, metabolism continues and probably it produces more mescaline over the time.
However, I have one experience where have been ingested 10months old cuttings and they appeared to be very potent ones.. But I can say I have nothing where to compare this... Yet.
About what comes to color of the skin.. I don't think it doesn't matter much.. Maybe dark ones have darker flesh tissue under the skin but does it indicate strong mescaline content or just strong phenethylamine content overall? I think no one know for sure. I have seen pale and dark cuttings are potent enough tho. There is much more alkaloids in the "dark tissue" than just mescaline..

Can you elaborate a bit on this modern? Link, source, backstory? I have a lot of PC pachanoi and as you know I'm in Oz.
