I will be monitoring their progress as they go and taking pictures of gills, they are very very small at the moment. And its almost impossible

Yes, possibly that species, it is not likely to be an endemic species, most likely introduced, our endemic or native species don't fruit in the middle of summer.

Unless "tub" is a kiwi euphemism for some sort of specific natural environment, then I'm guessing these were cultivated from spores?

I'm pretty sure they were not cultivated, he just had a rotting log that was fruiting Gymnopilus and tossed it into his tub with another bunch of substrate collected from the wild that had Psilocybe weraroa growing in it

Exactly what Inski said, I found the log in my yard at my old house and made a tub of woodchips with the log half buried in it

Here are some pictures of it today, im not exactly sure what this species thrives on, hopefully they get bigger

It's beautiful, is that a mushroom in the second image on the left, it's just showing off the side of the photo?

Do people in New Zealand really call each-other 'egg' as an insult? Why? What's the meaning of it.
It was on a movie called "Boy" that I watched the other day, good film, I recommended it.
