Remember with kava not to brew it in hot water.
also kratom is better for opiate withdrawal.

I'd try Kratom to help alleviate withdrawals not kava kava. I'm on Suboxone maintance, currently at 5 MG per day. I'm thinking about using Kratom to jump off completely, once I get down to 1 or 2 mg a day

Kava has a good reputation, but don't waste your money on some commercial brand of tea bag herbs. Buy the following kava kava extract. This company is run by a youn herbalist who seems to know his stuff. Found out about him from his YouTube videos: http://www.youtube.com/user/herbgardner00
Kava kava: https://hyperionherbs.com/shop/kava-extract-4-oz/

check out a health food store. Most of the good health food stores have powdered kava kava root! If its a good shop, it should be pretty potent as well and should only cost around 8 bucks for 2 oz.

You want to be careful because taking things that make you tired in w/d can be hellish if its not strong enough to put you under. You will be totally exhausted but still awake clucking and all.
Soon you will start feeling human some of the time, like little glimpses of serenity, then those times will be more and more until you get back to normal life. Then the next challenge begins which is staying clean. I fucked that bit up and now I have to kick a 2nd time.
Yeah I hear ya. I'm in hell, but at the same time I get these moments of pure euphoria. This euphoria is different, but in a way better than doing opiates. It's a feeling of accomplishment. Just finished my first semester of college with all A's, been holding a steady job where everyone loves (TRUSTS) me. I've done so much stupid shit and I am always able to think about that stupid shit when I remember the feeling of pushing that plunger. I have taught myself to associate the rush of dope through my blood stream with a life that is absolute hell where I can't take a piss without my GF thinking (KNOWING) that I'm in there trying to hit a vein. I've lost so many friends I'm sick of it all. Just be steady and slow with your actions. Always remember those that you have hurt and that most of that trust can be earned back with time.

Kratom affects the same receptors as opiods so this could aid in some relief to withdraws. Funny how sub-docs dont talk about this, most are paid off by the pharmy co. making the suboxen. Keep positive you got over the biggest mountain in your life, it only gets better from here on.

Can anybody say if kava helps you focus on a task, at all? I would imagine it does, since it's a 'relaxant' and might make you less impatient when you have to do something.

Kava does give me sense of focus i suppose. mostly just anxiety relief, and sleepiness. It's relaxant properties come from it's affinity for the CB2, and gaba receptors.

Alright guys I just got home and I'm relaxing in bed and about to start drinking the 468mg of kava kava. The time is 9:42pm and I will keep updating to let you guys know how my cold water, 2% milk, and yogi kava mixture works out. I'm already very "tired", but I probably couldn't fall asleep if I tried.
Stay tuned!
BTW I already am really liking this forum. Seems like a lot of great people reside here. I think I'll stay.
EDIT: 9:50pm my tongue is tingling a little bit when I take sips. Good sign?
EDIT2: 10:01pm Decided to chug the rest. Think I'm going to listen to the Doors Riders on the Storm & Strange Days while closing my eyes and relaxing.
EDIT3: 10:06pm Stomach is starting to turn, but it isn't necessarily bad. Almost a slight euphoria involved with it, but I feel like I have to take a shit at the same time. BTW I drank this on an empty stomach. Eyes are a little heavier also. Could all be placebo. Will update again if I feel anything else.
EDIT4: 10:12pm Feeling euphorically happy listening to Blue Sunday off of the album Backstage & Dangerous. Thinking about playing my new 12-string, but don't want to get up. Still not sure if this is placebo or not.
EDIT5: Just consumed another 5 tea bags. Pretty damn tired at this point. I feel like I could actually sleep, but I think I'll stay up and see what happens with these 5 extra tea bags. Now at a total of 858mg of kava root extract.

Thanks! It is near to have that mindset while on the stuff, but that is what suboxone did for me. Helped me get my life and mind straightened out before throwing me in the real world unequipped again. As my doctor and the people in AA say, "it works if you work it." That's the truth about subs. You can't just take subs and be better. There is no magical cure there, but if you work hard and DON'T HANG AROUND THE SAME PEOPLE its possible to get better.

I have lost some old friends to opiates ODs , and suicides. You sound like your doing very well with your feelinngs and not giving in to temtation. You got straight As, a girlfriend who stayed with you in a time most would run, be sure and tell her how much it means to you to have someone there to share this time with, if she wasnt there the Devil would be sitting on your shoulder whispering sweet nothings into your veins. Just tell her how much it means to have her there, everday. When you get the real kava kava extract tincture, you'll feel the difference your mouth becomes a little numb like the stuff the dentist puts on your gums before he sticks ya. I got the opportunity to be in a Kava ceremony while in Tonga, a nice experiance except the taste was like old dish water at first, followed with numbing, then a sort of drunk relaxing feeling throughout the evening. Definately get the Kava kava tincture from healthfood store, much stronger...

I really am lucky. I'm 23 and have been with her for 3 1/2 years. Been through some crazy times together and because of my dumb ass I turned this cute and sweet girl on to smoking crack and taking benzos. Now we have both kicked all drug habits, except she still smokes tree, but that is fine with me. She really means the world to me.
ANYWAYS!!
I woke up feeling like complete shit this morning at 6am. So that is about 6 hours of sleep after drinking 12 tea bags of kava. Still more sleep than I have been getting and I did have some nice vivid dreams. I ended up going to a head shop with my girl today because she wanted a new pipe and I happened to notice some kratom hanging up on the wall. Now I KNOW that this stuff is most likely the worst quality kratom ever created, but my WD's were so bad I just said FUCK IT and bought a bag of... get ready to laugh... Kaboom Kratom Bali. Names like that is going to get this shit banned. Anyways, I took 6 capsules (500mg each) and emptied them out and toss n washed them with some orange juice (the powder in the capsules was green and earthy and had some small stems mixed in). After about 10 minutes I felt a tingling in my neck (similar to right before an opiate kicks it) and then some slight (VERY SLIGHT) euphoria and relief. After an hour I took 4 more capsules and still didn't feel any euphoria, but my WD's were gone! Amazing. I was still exhausted all day, but it was nice being relieved of that hell. So just now I went onto http://www.mmmspeciosa.com and ordered 25g of Plantation Maeng Da and 50g of Bali and paid $12 bucks for 1-2 day shipping and had it sent to my work since that is where I will be on those days (I work at a hotel as a houseman constantly running around and my job is damn near impossible with the lack of energy I've been having).
I'll just have to be careful with this stuff and make sure to taper as the batch grows closer to it's end and make sure I take a day or two break every now and then since I AM a recovering opiate addict.

I'm on board with everybody telling you to look into Kratom
The Vietnam strain put me in euphoria for hours
I am a fan of those yogi kava kava tea bags but you have to use a few to really feel it. 6 is way more than I've ever done!
